I apologize to everyone who thought that the knife bit was a spoiler. It really wasn't. You may be reading things into my comment.

I in no way indicated when resolution will occur with the dagger. What you will learn in this series is that while events happen, the plots, motives, and strings being pulled behind the scenes are never immediately clear (if ever). Sometimes something may happen, and it takes a long time to fully grasp what happened with an event that took place in the past.

Sorry if some feel that is a spoiler. It shouldn't be. This entire show is built on suspense and intrigue. Expect the unexpected.

Nonetheless, I apologize if some worry that I have spoiled the process of watching the show.

***As a side note - I am starting to wonder if this season will really be limited to Book 1. It seems like they accelerated some of the plot lines early in the season.***

There are only 10 episodes. It has to be compressed.

Telling us that you really like a character is fine, but implying that a specific character will be around in book 3 is a spoiler. That tells me I don’t have to worry about a specific character getting killed no matter the situation they are in. Just because a story line has no consequence does not mean that I cannot find that out on my own. There is a very famous episode of the Sopranos which contains a storyline that is never finished. It is teased but never resolved. Fans of the show will know what I am talking about. I would hate to have that inconsequential storyline ruined for the rest of the series as I wondered when it would be concluded. Waiting for the answer is part of the fun even if that answer never comes.

Saying that a characters relationship will grow implies that character will be around for a while. I don’t want to know that especially after one of the first posts on this thread is a warning not to get too attached to any characters.

Im pretty well versed in the Sopranos, The Wire and LOST and I think first time viewers of those shows would hate to see me talking about something is season 4 when it applied to a character in season one that will have many opportunities to get killed off. It ruins the journey and while the destination might be great the journey is why we watch the show.

I'm sure we will all get called out for crying but I would hate to have a discussion with first time views ruined because minor spoilers are still spoilers to us.

lol... i wasnt the one who posted the knife comment but I was the one who led to it. I haven't gotten that far so I could see it as a spoiler just as you guys could but it is really not a huge deal. I will be more respectful to put warnings on anything that could REMOTELY be considered a spoiler.

I think the knife discussion should be over with, but you guys have to be realistic in the fact that this thread is going to have book information, especially when someone asks for clarification. I already had something huge ruined for me when I read like two posts in the other thread. This is a show based off of books, and I like to talk about the differences and also talk about character relationships/growth in the show vs the book.

SO from here on out, if you've read the book, scrutinize your post heavily to double check things. The arguments are ruining the information on this thread and I would like to get back on topic.

This thread is for discussion of the TV series only. No book talk at all. There are 3 threads going so there is something for everyone. On Alan Sepinwall's blog on GoT's he only allows discussion on the show so its possible to do. If someone wants clarification they can take it to the thread for that.

one is for random background information where they don't talk about the show as much, one is for people who have read every book. Ill go ahead and stick with this one until I read rest of the books. Thanks.

Fine but take the talk about the differences between the book and show to another thread.

It IS about the show, but it's for people who don't mind a bit of "spoiler" info like the bit about the knife and have questions about what's going on that can only be explained by people who have read the book. At least that's how I intended it.

Best I can figure is vote against the posts, and let staff sort em out.

Sooo...anybody have a favorite storyline?

As of now I think my favorite thread of the story is what's going on with Jon Snow at the Wall. Those are the scenes I look forward to the most right now. Its cool to see how he's banded together with some of the fellow recruits. Those stories are always easy for me to identify and connect with.

based purely off the show, i'm actually enjoying the dany/vis/dothraki thread. i had doubts about emilia clarke but she's capturing the emotional growth and realization of dany's power that is vital to the character. and harry lloyd is playing a FANTASTIC viserys

Pretty sure he's referring to a series of funny scenes that included Christopher, and Paulie...Tony and Bobby Bacalla. And a LOT of snow.

LHIOB,

Can you help me remember? It's been a while since I watched Sopranos and now it's killing me.

Have you guys seen the amount of merchandise HBO is hawking for this show? Geez!

Nerds = Merchandise Cash Cow

The one thing this show has made me want are one of those Northern Inuit dogs. Those things are sweet looking and I've been waiting to get a dog for a while, but I'd feel bad bringing one to the Texas heat.

Definitely just getting better and better on the show, but I dunno where the whole homosexual thing is coming from with Renly and the knight of flowers... kind of a curveball thrown on that one.

this. and it really gets really predictable and monotonous IMO.

As for GOT, seems to be getting better but still boring in my honest opinion. I can see its starting to come together but it seems like its catered mostly to the people who have read the books.

Tonights episode was one of the better ones with the jousting match and the standoff at the end withe lannister and stark, but IMO they need a scene like the horse beheading, or wolf attack in every episode to keep the non book readers interested. On top of that we havent seen "the others" or any other supernatural since the premier and the targaryens arent getting enough screen time either. They werent even shown this episode, not good. I was hoping for a bit more action than "the borgias", or "mad men", but hopefully they are heading in the right direction.

Honestly, would you let you son suck on a woman's teet for a part in a TV show? Wow...

Also, just about every episode amazes me. Visual effects in TV and movies have come so far... Just spectacular.

I'm wondering whats going to happen first... The King blowing out a valve in his cow heart or catching his wife in bed with his brother in law.

So far my favorite characters are:
The Imp... By far
The *******
The Tomboy

Hrm, actually quite a bit of the books are just talking with intermittent action. It gets more attention grabbing as it goes on though. Can't disclose the nature though as evidently that's spoiler territory, but it's worth the wait.

You're not missing out on anything with Daenarys. They told you everything that you need to know about her this episode, unless you just want to watch her get ****ed from behind. She'll likely be pretty major in next episode.

I've honestly no idea where that came from. That certainly wasn't in the books (omg spoilers!) sooo...HBO must really like gay sex scenes as someone else pointed out I guess.

That was my thought as well. Of all the things they leave out from the books, they decided to keep that in.

In the books it was implied that Renly and Loras were gay.

GRRM later confirms it.

Meh, wouldn't care if my child pantomimed nursing for a movie/show. It's just a nipple, and some people need to stop being so childish as to think it would be a big deal.

Has HBO ever had a show without a gay storyline?

A lot of the characters in this show are pretty stupid. Ned's wife goes through all this secrecy to not be seen in Kings Landing to get her husband a message then kidnaps Tyrian without informing Bed and basically leaving him to fend for himself without knowing what is going on.

And did anyone else think it pretty bizarre that everyone was all for going to kill Danaeras and her baby to prevent war? Seems that would be the one thing that would light a fire under the Doth Raki's asses to get across the Narrow Sea for some revenge. Why poke the sleeping giant? Lots of idiot in the Kings company or a lot of people wanting him to fail and put the crown up for grabs.

Folks, that wasn't her real tit the kid was sucking on. Although I'm sure the kid's parents were still cringing about that scene.

Getting slightly bored. Definitely could have done without the chest shaving and blow scene. The Cleganes, Arya, Tryion and Ned are keeping me entertained.

I guess these days the more gay equals more award nominations.

It took a while for The Sopranos to go gay... Deadwood wasn't really gay from what I remember although there was a lot of talk about c-sucking.
