Might be a different area of infection?
Layperson guess here, but the eye pain described by Baller makes me think it might have been focused in his sinuses or otherwise "above the neck".
His partner may have an infection centered further down the larynx or trachea.

While this makes good headlines the scientists are saying this isn't as big of a deal as it sounds. They are all basically the same as the differences between the strains are very minimal.

Are you a doctor? My understanding is that this is far from the first virus that can cause lasting lung damage.
I had some mystery virus almost two years ago with fevers for about a week, and my breathing still isn't perfect. Wheezing was noticeable enough months later that I sought medical help - they gave me antobiotics that didn't noticeably improve things. It's better now but still clearly not back to full fitness.
I don't know if the damage is permanent or just long-lasting.

My partner woke up this morning and breathing has gotten painful. We are going to cedars Sinai in LA right now.
I will keep you updated. This is mostly a precaution but I don't want to take any chances. Apparently when this gets bad it happens really fast.

my advice through from my sister the MD - insist on a HCQ and z-pac prescription.
seems like only doing it for hospitalized but maybe you have an MD that would prescribe it even for home use.

All I'm saying is that there is not nearly enough time for anyone to say this with any sort of reliability.

So he had an X-ray, CT, corona test, and two EKGs and they can't figure out why is heart rate won't rest below 135-140, so they're admitting him.
They do believe it's coronavirus related, especially with all the chest pain.
His lungs are fine. They showed evidence of coronavirus with some scarring but looked to be healing, like the disease was done with his lungs.
It's really scary how many different ways this thing can manifest itself.

Baller (and or any docs): did you experience any tremors? Our daughter is director of a memory care center near Atlanta and three patients who are Covid 19 positive showed this symptom. And for the record, any of her patients there who are over 65 are not being admitted to hospital according to her.
