Vince Velasquez, Derek Fisher & Brett Oberholtzer for Giles.
Now being reported there's a 4th player headed to Philly
It always good to trade away Derek Fishers. Damn them all.

quote:Why are you so high on Fisher? We have like 12039812738 outfielders that project well, it's a spot we can and should give up talent in trades
Nooooo ooooo on fisher

3/$18,000,000 for Sipp. Man average pitching has gotten expensive.

quote:Between Sipp, Harris, and Giles..... We will have 3 relievers that had an ERA under two. Throw in Gregerson and Neshek and you have a damn good bullpen.
Sipp did have an ERA under 2, so it was probably unreasonable to expect him to come cheap.
quote:I think Kazmir just got worn down as the season went on. He was lights out in Oakland, and his first couple of months in Houston were just as good. I think if we monitor his innings, maybe even skip him in the rotation every now and then, it could help keep him sharp throughout the year.
Position of need. And Sipp has been getting the job done. I guess this means that we're not even looking to improve the corner infield positions. I'm curious to see what the final verdict is on Kazmir. On one hand, he was **** down the stretch. On the other hand, he had a pretty solid first half of the season...

No. Thats the same bullpen minus Qualls and Giles that **** the bed during the division race last year.
Resigning Sipp is OK. Giles is a massive upgrade. I dont want Neshek back

Yeah we really need a corner infielder. Valbuena and Singleton aren't gonna cut it.
quote:
Only decent 3B available in free agency is David Freeze and he's not an upgrade over Valbuena. I'm actually fine with Luis at 3B. Have you looked at his splits from last year? He was a much better hitter later in the season, and that might have been due to the extra rest he was given in the second half of the season. He had surgery to remove a bunion on his left foot in October, which Luhnow said had to be managed throughout the season.
Pre All-Star .199/.285/.430
Post All-Star .270/.359/.453
He also batted .158 versus lefties, so he's a candidate to sit for 20-30 games when we face lefties to get Marwin in the lineup. At this point, free agency isn't an option for 3B and I wouldn't sacrifice anymore prospects for the hot corner.

Singleton seemed to start figuring it out in that series against Texas, and then was mysteriously benched. Not sure what happened, but I was disappointed we didn't get to see more of him.
