Sad story. Hadn't really heard much of him but this is never good news. T&P to his family, I know exactly how they feel at this particular moment - losing someone unexpectedly is never good.
Real bummer of a story. Sounds by accounts as a good kid who enjoyed the game thoroughly.

Tony Kemp made the top 10 2B prospects and Alex Bregman made the SS list.
Awesome! But the two guys in front of them aren't going anywhere. It'll be interesting to see what happens as they continue to move up. Kemp is really close.
But doesn't Kemp project as a big league CFer?
And I suspect Bregman isn't here when he reaches the majors or moves positions if he ever wears an Astros jersey.

Yep. And at third, you also have prospects Colin Moran, who has a career average of .300 in the minors, and J.D. Davis who has a little more power. Those are likely your AAA and AA third basemen to start the season. Between those two, Correa, and Bregman, we should be able to field a quality left side of the infield in the near future.

Losing 18 pounds is pretty significant. What I'm more interested in seeing, however, is what working with a personal trainer has done for his flexibility and agility. It would be great if Gattis could serve as the second catcher so that we don't have to tie up a roster spot with a guy like Stassi, and can instead have another relief pitcher or bat on the roster.

Man, if Gattis could be a serviceable back up catcher that would make things so much easier.

Man Gattis is gonna have to get some bigger pants if he ever wants to get into a crouch behind home plate. Either that or the equipment staff is gonna have to stock up on thread and needles.

It's a Singleton/Reed battle. Hopefully Jon can put it together or his leash is short and we see Reed called up pretty.
I'm alright with that as long as we don't stick with Singleton too long. I'd hate to see Jon struggling to hit .200 at the ASB while Reed continues to crush in AAA.
It's first base. It's not that difficult.

I know he's 31, so maybe it had something to do with fatigue or wear and tear. Loved him with the Tigers and hope he regains form.
I agree I like the signing.
I was just looking at his numbers and trying to figure out the decline. He had the same amount of walks in 61 less innings pitched in 2015 vs 2014. His SO/W ratio is about 1/2 what it was in 2015.
If he can prove that 2015 was a fluke and not the new norm he is gonna be a big pickup!

Low risk, high reward. Like that signing. If he gets lose to his 2014 form it's a great pickup
