Robinson Cano, No. 4 on the list, pulled in the highest endorsements with $3.5 million in deals with brands. His salary from the Seattle Mariners is $24 million this year.
Below, I've re-ranked Forbes' list based on endorsements dollars to give our readers some context.
Robinson Cano: $3.5 million
Albert Pujols: $2.5 million
Clayton Kershaw: $1.2 million
CC Sabathia: $1.1 million
Justin Verlander: $500,000
Ryan Howard: $500,000
Jon Lester: $400,000
Prince Fielder: $300,000
Cliff Lee: $200,000
Felix Hernandez: $200,000
Baseball players just don't break the bank with endorsements.

Did not realize it was that low.. Harden will make more from Adidas than a lot of elite baseball players get from salaries

But in baseball you have guys like Josh Hamilton making more than Lebron or Tom Brady in salary.

Correa signed endorsement deal with Adidas.

Financial terms not reported but Darren Rovell reported that it's a "huge, record setting deal"

quote:
"It's a huge deal," Correa said. "I think the Adidas deal is a pretty good one. It's going to help me through those five or six years that I need to get to free agency."

Thoughts on Justin Mourneau? I see he's still a FA looking for a landing spot.

Think with our questions at 1B and DH he'd be a nice fit on a team friendly deal.

He'll be 35 this year and his away from CO stats scare me.
HOME OPS: 1.025
AWAY OPS: 0.666

I wouldn't mind giving him a shot if he's cheap. But I won't want him being average to below average stop us from trying one of the young guys coming up.

Affirmative. Team option.

In other words, if he has a good year or we aren't sure we can land a better DH, we keep him for 2017.

Looks we bought him out of the option

quote:
The Astros have reached a deal to avoid arbitration with slugger Evan Gattis, according to Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle (Twitter link). Gattis will be guaranteed $3.4MM in the deal, Drellich tweets, but $100K of that comes in the form of a buyout for a $5.2MM club option for the 2017 campaign.

Or am I reading that wrong?

Club pays him to have team option
mazag08

We're paying him to potentially not have to pay him a greater amount next year, and we still get the chance to keep him next year if we want him.

It's kind of a win/win for the Astros, and a win/neutral for Gattis.

6th best all-around lineup in MLB

quote:
6. Astros
Loaded with young talent, the Astros have a power-packed lineup that is defensively adept (third in the Majors in Defensive Runs Saved last season). Their fans are about to be treated to the first full season of a Carlos Correa-Jose Altuve middle infield, and the thought of an outfield featuring a healthy and emerging George Springer alongside two valuable veterans in their walk year (Carlos Gomez and Colby Rasmus) is enticing.

Alas, the Astros did not address any of the three positions in the field where they rated negatively in Baseball Reference's WAR calculations in 2015 -- first base, third base and catcher. In letting Chris Carter walk, they began to deconstruct their boom-or-bust reputation, but they also embraced some uncertainty at first, where Jon Singleton will try to re-establish himself as a franchise cornerstone and A.J. Reed looms as a long-term option. At third, Luis Valbuena gave Houston some unexpected power last season, but his overall inconsistency might lend him best to a platoon role. And at catcher, Jason Castro has regressed offensively each of the last two seasons, while dealing with some injury issues. The Astros also rated negatively at designated hitter, where Evan Gattis hit 27 homers but only got on base at a .285 clip. He's now recovering from sports hernia surgery.

That's a long-winded way of saying this is a very, very good lineup that also still has some clear holes/concerns. How those concerns are addressed, internally or externally, as 2016 rolls along will dictate how elite this lineup really is.

That's a pretty dang good write up. I wish it would have touched more on the possible solutions we will have just in potential call ups..

3B: Duffy, Moran, Davis
1B: Reed, White
C: Stassi, Heineman
DH: All of the above

We also have potential MLB ready depth at every position in the system, thought not the elite depth we had last year with Santana, Phillips, Nottingham, etc that we traded.

What is y'alls take on Moran? Does he project to be a legitimate contributor at the big league level? It looks like he hits for a pretty decent average, but his power numbers are pretty terrible for a corner infield position
mazag08
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The guy has never developed any power. He's still pretty young, so it could come, but its a little alarming.

I don't think he'll be ready this year, unless we have injuries and need a stop gap. I think he will be traded while he still has value based on potential.
Farmer1906

He doesn't do much for me. I think CC is the future at 3rd once Bregman is ready.

Alright guys... Let's see your projected opening day lineups.

Altuve
Springer
Correa
Rasmus
Gomez
Tucker(DH)
Valbuena
Singleton
Castro

Good lord there's a lot of lefties on the bottom of that.

Keuchel
McHugh
McCullers
Fiers
Feldman/Fister

Pretty spot on with the lineup. I think you could probably switch Springer and Gomez if you wanted but with the success Altuve/Springer combo had I'm OK with it as is. Although a CC, Rasmus, Springer would be a nice 3/4/5. Also depending on how ST goes and who we face Jake may get the start in the OF and Rasmus may DH.

But good God if Feldman is in this rotation when the season starts I'm gonna flip shlt. Especially if he's in over Fister. I've grown tired of his BS
3B Paul 97
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I would expect to see Altive and Springer flipped. Ramos would probably move down to keep a buch of slower runners being bunched at the bottom.
shano0603
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The rotation is all based on Fister.. Gotta see where he's at... Could not make it, could be our #3..

And there will be a lot of movement in the lineup... Can't have the last 4-5 players in the lineup be lefties.
mazag08
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I put this up a couple days ago..

Altuve
Gomez
Correa
Springer
Rasmus
Gattis/Tucker
Valbuena
Singleton
Castro

Can't wait to see what Joe Musgrove brings this year. He may not make the big club this year but he's got a bright future.
