IF he didn't consider alternatives, why in the world would he ever admit to not considering alternatives.
If I know the FDJ transaction was 50/50 at best, then why in the world would ETH not at least consider the possibility that it wasn't going to work out.

You are correct, I was more thinking of the story saying ETH didn't think not getting de Jong wasn't a possibility, but whomever is handling the transfer market for United should have also warned ETH of the possibility and been planning for another option. Good grief, the player said he didn't want to leave, so you knew there were issues.

Made especially worse by watching Man Dhabi just prior to this match he the Pep/Messi/Iniesta Barcelona reborn.

It's not sports you despise. It's sports owners that prioritize making money over being competitive. It's possible to do both but it takes work and a willingness to let competent professionals run things.
