Yordan has fielded balls at first base in practice but Yuli has basically had the position locked down since 2017.

He's won a Gold Glove and batting title playing the position so it's kind of hard to move him since he really can't play anywhere else.

I'm not sure about Brantley. Love the dude and understand what he meant to the team this year and postseason even though he didn't play much, but with his age, injury and reduced production, I don't know if he's worth everyday outfielder money. Especially because Chas is already a relatively light hitting outfielder (despite his post season highlights).

32 HR, 75RBI, 480 SLG and 817 OPS isn't good?

His average and OBP isn't great...but that's a very good hitter.

Rizzo is an excellent hitter. His problem for us is he's opted out of $16 million for 2023.

I bet he's going to want at least 3/60 and I don't think he's worth that for us. I'd rather give that to Tucker.

I would be ok with resigning Yuli, at a lower price, and trying out some young guys. I don't know what we have down in the minors, but maybe trade for a youngster. Maybe Hensley. Dude got a hit in the series and won some kind of minor league award. He plays middle infield, so his glove should be plenty good enough for first base, and dude is tall, so he can stretch out to beat the runner.

I would also be ok with resigning Brantley, also at a discount. He and Yordan can trade off LF/DH, with Yuli in the DH mix to keep them all fresh.

I get that. But Aledmys played six games at 1B this season. I would think maybe Yordan might have gotten at least one of those if they were serious about him being a 1B at some point.

And I'm not saying that he couldn't be a first baseman. It just seems like they aren't really trying to get him ready for that with any real urgency.

I went to grab some shooting targets at the I-10 and Bunkerhill location at 9am the other day. There were already hundreds in a line that went around the back of the building for a Kyle Tucker signing that wasn't happening until 6:30pm that night.
