I think Starbase looks ugly now. It looked good before because it was wide open, so all those chunky grey and blue details fit with its proportions. But now that it's smaller, it just looks crowded and bland. Wasteland also feels a bit cramped now, but it's not as bad as Starbase.

I mostly just liked the change of pace, now it's literally just the same arena over and over and over

Agreed. While I cursed them all the time, they brought character and interesting dynamics to the table to keep things fresh.

Those are some really sick shots Halibut, I'd be happy to score them in my games for sure.

Also, I'm on the other end on the map debate, really happy that they standardized everything. I generally like old tokyo and old starbase, but I didn't enjoy them in high stakes competitive matches. Always rewarded more hesitant gameplay and punished confidence in trying to read and play off of the differences in the map.

Where is the LAN? Need to know where to bring the halftime snack (orange slices and Capri Sun). Obviously I will get the other proud parents to help make an arm tunnel (example below) that you can run through after the game.

Does the B team have any chance at making it?

Looks like new progressive banning system is in play for competitive

TLDR...5 min for 1st offense. 10 min for 2nd...all of the way up to 24 hour bans for level 7. After your ban ends, you stay at that level for 12 hours. Another offense moves you up to the next ban length level. Don't leave a game during that time, move back down a level until you ultimately can reach level 0 again.

Did they say there was a reason for this? I feel like it's just going to increase the amount of players leaving early. Especially in solo standard.

I think it's to stop the serial quitters. You can now effectively quit once every 12 hours for almost no penalty (5 minutes ban). But anything above that rate will eventually lead to longer and longer bans.

Short term, it will probably lead to more people quitting, but hopefully it stabilizes quickly. (As someone who never quits out of a ranked match, and sees teammates quit very rarely, I don't know how much this will help or hurt.)

I played for 2-3 hours last night, standard and doubles, and had players leave in 20-30% of our matches. We were in a party so it was always the other team; I'll take the free wins but I don't like the change this has caused within the online community. There was no need to decrease the initial 15 min ban.

The only thing I can think of is they are aware that their servers suck balls. Every once in a while a server will kick you out, then the game gives a 15 min ban. That sucks, but this isn't the answer.

Man, that sucks. I agree they should have kept the starting ban at 15 minutes. If the servers kick you and you get the ban/glitch, 15 mins isn't that much worse than 5 minutes.

15 minutes isn't much but if you are in a party and other people have to wait on you it sucks. My game used to crash at least 1-2 times every time I played and it would ban me.

I think they need some kind of confirmation before a game starts. Once all players connect make them hit a button before it starts. Too many times one player isn't there for the first minute or two and it's easy to get in a hole quickly. Of course that doesn't help the people that are texting or whatever and keep missing faceoffs during the game but not really much can be done there.

A big problem was someone's game crashing. Sher and I both have had problems where the game randomly closes and we would come back to a 15 minute ban even after trying to rejoin a game in progress. I'm ok with this new change

Do the tutorials, and do the recommended training and work your way up. Spent lots of time in free play. Turn off camera shake. When you're in game you want play goalie parallel to the back wall not inside the net. Also in game, dont constantly drive straight to where the ball is, start heading towards the space that you think another player is about to hit the ball.

Hey guys,

We have a few things left for A&M RL this fall. This Wednesday, we will be participating in the CCA $250 Fall Final Tournament as the 3 seed in a 12 team tournament. A lot of good teams qualified so it should be fun. Also, we are planning to have a TAMU RL 1v1 tournament relatively soon. I'll update with the details as soon as we decide something.

I hit a ceiling shot in a "real game".




"Real game" = This guy beat me by 5 goals in each of our previous games. He spotted me some goals at the beginning of this game to make it competitive.

Also, I know this isn't the greatest shot. He missed his air dribble (that I was wildly out of position to defend) which meant he wasn't in a position to defend my shot, so it might as well have been messing around in free-play.

Buuuuuut, I still hit the shot so I'm happy.

I haven't figured out aerials yet and still play mostly a ground game. I played against someone the other day who was flying all over the map not letting the ball fall. I now know how normal people feel in comicbooks watching a superhero fly by.

For the Xbox players:

I don't have a headset for my Xbox One, but if I had one, would I be able to chat with my teammates (the ones who also have headsets, I suppose)? I will occasionally play RL on the Xbox, but I much prefer playing on the PC because I can use Twitch (or Discord) for audio chat.

If the answer to my above question is yes, then I have a follow-up question: Do you have to press a button on the controller to chat when playing on the Xbox? Or are you just "live" if you have a headset connected?

There are settings for everything. You can set it to "push to talk" where you have to press a button to talk or set it so you are always "live" and it will broadcast anytime it detects a sound. If you just leave it always on make sure to check your threshholds and don't have music or another tv playing or people talking in the background because that is annoying to other players that may not want to hear that. They end up muting you and that defeats the purpose. You can also set voice chat to "Team only" so opponents don't hear you planning with your teammate. I usually mute everyone when I'm playing, haha. If I'm playing with friends then we party up.

I'm getting pretty close to quitting this game for good. Nearly 50% of the games have someone that's afk or trolling or being a jerk or playing on the other team on purpose. I've said it before but I get so ticked at some point pretty much every time I play this game.

What level of play are you at? And are the games where that is happening ranked or casual (or both)? I see what you are describing every once in a while, but definitely not on a regular basis. Plus, it helps to play with regular teammates when possible.

I, personally, get really frustrated with ranked Solo Standard. My rank there is so low (Silver III) that I get teamed up with relative noobs, and it is rare that I can carry because the other team always seems to have at least 2 decent players. But that is my only real frustration with the game atm.
