A buddy and I were looking at it, been trying to find a sports game with online co-op gameplay and a "dynasty" mode function where you can build something over multiple seasons. I see Rocket League has some pretty impressive reviews so far, but I am not sure what game modes are available (i.e. are there online leagues?)

You can find online matches--1v1, 2v2, 3v3, or 4v4--or set up private ones

There are also exhibition and season (league) modes.

I'm not certain, but I think any combination is possible in all the different modes--local, online, ai. I've only played around with exhibition and online.


My son and I are currently 0-2 (both shutouts) and ready to take anybody on

You know, I thought I would get into Rocket League early and I would do alright, I would keep up with everyone else, unlike Destiny where I never played an fps before and never pvp.

So, how in the hell are y'all good already?

Every time I play with anyone on TAs I feel old and all thumbs.

Do the tutorials so you know all the moves, use the ball cam, and don't chase the ball. Be patient and time your shots. When I did those things my skills improved 100%.

1) I started off never using ball cam and am really struggling to get used to it (as of yesterday).

2) It feels like I was better the first day I played than I'm playing now.

3) My left thumb hurts.

4) I still love it.

Understanding spacing on the pitch is really important. Being close to and/or chasing the ball is rarely the best position to be. Also, defense is just as important as offense which I've noticed many of the new players totally disregard.

This is what I've picked up from my first night of playing. Im definitely addicted.

I was just watching some Rocket League vids at lunch and came across this match via r/RocketLeague. It's interesting to watch elite players get after each other. Their skill in the air and on the ball is incredible. Cool to pick up some match play strategies too.

In that video gambit is an AI opponent. Probably on the top level. The other guy is pretty good though. The main thing I've found out is just do all you can to keep the ball in the middle when on offense. If you are in the corner you aren't going to score so do what you can to kick it out.

Nice!

WHat I hate is when playing online and I have a shot perfectly lined up by my unaware teammate just slams me or the ball before and completely messes it up. Happens more than a team defending me well.

Really enjoy this game though.

I agree. I have found its much more fun and competitive when you're playing with someone your familiar with. Headsets also help so you can set up plays, coordinate defense, etc.

I read online that if you win a game with all 4 of the original cars then you unlock Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal. I've got to win a game with two more of the card then I'll find out.

Ok, I just sent friend requests to everyone on this thread who posted their PSN ID. No one sent me any. I've come 90, now you just have to come 10.

And does anyone use a chat headset for PS4 that you recommend? I don't want full-on headphones that provide all audio; I want something more like what the 360 and XB1 have. This Sony earbud is terrible.
