Romo took more **** than he deserved. It's just easy to get caught up in that catch made the difference in that game when in reality the defenses inability to get a stop the entire half except for the first drive was the real issue

Against Rogers who was literally playing on 1.25 legs.

Less Noah Brown and Gallup. More Hilton, Pollard and using TEs in the passing game.

Not blaming Brown, but Dak sure seems to love throwing the ball his way and it seems 75% of Dak's picks come targeting Brown. Just seems like a bad connection.

Romo with one of the more modern aggressive minded coaches would have been an interesting combo. I think saddling him with Garrett was like staying in a bad marriage

Agree. Spread the defense thin across the field with Pollard and TEs, then try to hit dime stuff down the field to Lamb. My concern is that Pollard's running helped get this offense rolling, but since the Steele and then Biadisz injuries, that has been tough sledding. It has bogged a lot down

Run, run, run, run.

Don't try to get cute, Zeke and Pollard are great weapons. Use them.

No doubt they have to run the ball. I just want them to be more creative. Lately, it seems their run game consists of vanilla off tackle leads that result is 2nd and 9 pretty consistently. Maybe use more PA to set up some early chunks in the passing game and then the more traditional run packages should have more success.

No matter how the analytics are looked at, play action is incredibly effective. In fact, there's even data that suggests PA works even in heavy passing situations. We know Tampa is going to want to stop the run so use that PA early and often to soften things up.

If we can just find a way to play only bad teams in the playoffs, because then Dak would put up great numbers.

One reason that I will not complain about the Cowboys having the Monday Night game this week, they are allowed an extra day to rest and heal. Biadasz, LVE and Hankins should be back, and getting that day extra can only help. Biadasz solidifies the line as a whole more, as well. Moves McGovern back to LG, Smith to LT where he needs to stay, and keeps Tyron Smith at RT where he doesn't have to be all world all the time. I am out on Peters being anything more than a back-up swing tackle. Stop with the garbage of moving Tyler Smith in. Let him play where he has played FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR.

Again, Dak has been very good. Just gotta stop being so risky with some throws.

I hope to some day die on a hill saying Romo would be a hall of famer if not dragged down by Garrett the head coach and Jerry the GM.

If you disagree, see me on the hill

Here is how we beat the Bucs in my opinion:

We HAVE TO get pressure with just the DL. We need to drop 6-7 in coverage, preferably press coverage to throw off the timing of the routes, and hope our DL gets pressure by themselves. Brady is top 5 in the league for release time (2.5 seconds), and top in INTs per attempt, and sacks per attempt. If we cannot get to him in under 3 seconds, then we need to make the window as tight as possible.

Second, we have got to run the ball on this team. If the Zeke/Pollard can get 150+ yards we will win this game.

Romo, Dak, Stafford, Rothlisberger, Eli, Russel Wilson (historically) are all about the same level to me. Very good QBs who can make you better, but they are not on the level of Brady, Peyton, Mahomes, Rodgers. Give them the right team and they can win it all, but they aren't going to drag a team deep in the playoffs single-handedly

Which begs the question, how much do you rush or blitz at all? It's almost impossible to get to Brady because he does throw the ball so quickly. My guess is that we will drop quite a few into coverage, but will drop different guys like lineman and backers to confuse Brady as much as possible. This is the perfect game for Micah to play more stand-up linebacker, drop in coverage and break a few passes up or pick one off.

What do the Saints do defensively against the Bucs. They seem to give Brady a hard time.

Perfect fit would be LA Chargers.

Agree w all this. As the other poster said, Brady gets the ball out so quick, it's really difficult.

And they are really good against the run so Dallas is not going to be able to just run traditional lead plays right into the heart of the defense. They're going to have to be creative and break some tendencies.

The Dez play happened with 4:42 left in the game. With a TD, Dallas would have gone for 2 and been up either 1 or 3. GB killed the last 4:08, largely due to Rodgers having his way with Dallas on two 3rd down throws (26 and 12 yard completions after 2 clock killing runs). I've always assumed Rodgers would have brought GB back for the win anyway
Thats exactly my thought.

I have no confidence whatsoever that the 2014 Cowboys defense would have stopped Aaron Rodgers from scoring the winning points.

The evidence of this is that they couldn't get the ball back from Green Bay offense once the call was over turned.

Tony Romo was too careless with the ball to ever be a hall of famer.

The 2006 Seahawks (9-7) and 2007 Giants (10-6) were not that great...and he just did not deliver when the team needed him to.

Romo leads the Cowboys to 45 and 31 point totals against the 2007 Giants in the regular season but can only muster 17 points in the playoff game at home

I saw enough from Romo over the years to know that he wasn't the guy to get it done.
I do think Dak Prescott is a much better player......but Dak has to win on Monday or he's going to start having to take the same criticisms that Romo did.

Romo was 2-4 in the post season. Right now Dak is 1-3.
If Dak wins a playoff game on the road, or gets Dallas to the NFC Championship game his legacy will surpass Romo's.

I remember two plays in particular by Crayton that would have resulted in more points that game.

I know most of y'all want Moore gone and that's fine. But if Moore gets a hc job, I'm scared ****less that jerry would bring Garrett back.

And if you took away the INTs that were the result of recievers dropping the ball, falling down, or running the wrong route, he would still be very good.

Romo was careless because he always thought it was on hm to win games, and really it was. When he finally got a running game with Murray his stats were fantastic. Imagine a healthy Romo Zeke's rookie year.

Dak was truly amazing for a rookie QB that year... just fantastic.

But Romo might have won the SB with that team and that O-line.

EDIT: Another thing to consider though... we always questioned Romos leadership and part of what made that team special was it immediately became Dak & Zekes team. It's possible they aren't as good with Romo also.

The Cowboys/Romo had the entire 4th quarter to win that game.
I think the Giants shut down the Cowboys last 4 drives to win that game.

If the Cowboys had lost 31-27 or 35-31....I wouldn't hold that against Romo.
17 points against a team you averaged 38 points against in the regular season is just not a good look.....and I'm not a Romo hater. I will go to my grave telling everyone that he was better than Eli Manning.

Don't get me wrong...every superstar quarterback has had a bad post season loss....but Romo didn't win enough in the playoffs to offset some of his mediocre performances in the playoffs.

Dak is in the same boat. I'm a supporter....but if he can't beat an 8-9 team on the road....then maybe he aint the guy.

We should just exclude the plays with turnovers?

Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?
Southlake
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The Dez play? All they had to do was give it to Murray who was a beast that year.

But, I have no doubt they could have stopped Rodgers after that.

I also have no doubt that the cowboys will beat TB and Brady by a wide margin. 31-17

This is just the kind of game Dallas bows up and wins.

It's **** on the Cowboys week and Tampa Bay seems to be the trendy pick in the media. Tons of bulletin board material available that's for sure. It's time to exercise some demons! Cowboys are going to roll Monday night. This reminds me of the week after the GB loss. The following week we won 40-3.

We would play Philly unless either the Giants or Seahawks also win their games. The 1st seed always gets the lowest remaining seed

Wish we didn't have to wait until Monday night to watch the Cowboys.

Is this the first Monday night playoff game? I don't ever remember a playoff game being played on Monday night.
