And they weren't even borderline…they were textbook holds…

The only reason he wasn't tackled by them is because he is truly that strong…

Just passing along what I heard about those holds not being called (I'm with you guys, they looked like holding to me).

So apparently if the O-line engages with a rusher and then the rusher uses his inside arm to try and go under and and break through the arms of the blocker in an attempt to get around the outside... they will allow the blocker to maintain that "arm bar" with the outside arm. Essentially the rusher is putting himself in that position and they give some grace to the O-line guy who is allowed to try and maintain his grip on the guy.

So I guess that makes a little sense. But it does seem like they let it slide a bit much yesterday. When Parsons moves the guy back into the QBs lap and the guy is still arm barring him, I would still expect to see yellow fly.

At least they did finally call one in the 4th quarter. But there were easily 2 more than could have / should have been called and a couple others that were close, but probably a good no call based on the description above.

Thank god those two finally got called towards the end.

Between watching the Bama game and yesterdays game I was starting to wonder if holding had been removed from the rule book.

I guess, but it makes about as much sense to me as the Roughing the Passer call on Brady yesterday.

I love teams with solid defenses. That was my favorite part about the Hawks for years. Watching the cowboys defense this year reminds me of the 2012 Seahawks D that Dan built. If the Cowboys stay healthy they will be a tough out in the playoffs! Parsons is a beast.

Maybe not the same but after watching that Netflix story on the nba ref that went to jail for betting on games, I'm sure in cases like Bama the league pressures refs to not call things. Hell kansas vs tu in 2005 was obviously refs helping tu. Too much money involved.
jr15aggie

That's what made the Bama/TU game so entertaining. The refs were absolutely terrible in that game... there was clearly division in the refs locker room on which team they were going to screw over!

But yeah, it's hard to not think something is going on when you see the same thing over and over again. It sure feels like the Cowboys have been a target for years now. Last year was particularly bad... They literally flagged the Raiders to victory. And then come playoff time the 49'ers grabbed and held all game long while the Cowboys could get nothing going on offense because after every key 1st down... yup... HOLDING!!!!

Well except the Raiders didn't win. After the terribly bad roughing call there were several makeup calls in the other direction.

I was talking about our game against the Raiders last year. Every time we made a play the refs brought it back with a flag. Every time the Raiders failed to convert a 3rd down, the refs gave them a first down with a flag.

The most one sided referee-ing I can recall ever seeing. I've seen lots of bad calls in my life, I can't recall another game where it was all game long and 100% one sided.

Yep. Raiders ran the "heave and pray" offense all game and the refs rewarded them handsomely. It wasn't just against us either. There was a 538 article about it.

Maybe jerry Jones rubs folks the wrong way? I'd love to be in these ref meetings before games. I mean it's well known the nfl messed with Al Davis. Maybe they do the same to Jerry?

It certainly makes you wonder after a while. Especially in the playoffs. The Dez catch, the Phantom 15 yard too many men in the huddle call Daks rookie year, last years calls/no calls against SF.

It's hard not to be a conspiracy theorist sometimes. But there are other counter arguments too. We beat Detroit in the playoffs a few years ago and I believe there was a pretty bad no call that really helped us late in the game. And I remember beating Seattle in the playoffs recently and I don't recall any ref shenanigans there

That call was so bizarre and out of nowhere. I've seen too many men in the huddle for 5 yards plenty of times, but have never ever seen the 15 yarder before that and since then. Seriously, wtf was that?

I'll tell you what it was... it was a crap call that killed our opening drive! We were marching right down the field on GB and the refs said, "Not Today!"

If I recall, the refs killed our first 2 drives of that game. I think they even called back a really nice pass thay had us inside the 10. They refused to let is score and Rogers proceeded to put quick points on the board. So frustrating.

Get used to it. Despite how good the boys are at getting to the QB, the refs are simply not going to sit there and call holding all game long, whether right or wrong.

I get that…but what they did to Parsons was egregious…
jr15aggie

That picture illustrates what I was saying earlier... not that I agree with it (cause I don't) but the explanation I heard at least helps me make sense of it.

Parsons used a thrust move with his right arm to swim under and through the OTs grip. The refs are told to allow that type of hold (within reason) because the defender does not get free reign to twist and turn however he wants... if the edge rusher is going to make moves they are allowing the OTs to try and maintain their grip on the guy. In other words, the defender put himself in that situation.

I only say that to maybe help y'all understand and not be so pissed next time we see it. I don't agree with it to the extent of what happened to Parsons on Sunday. Those guys simply cannot keep up with his speed & strength. They are out of position and they are holding.

I'm no cowboy fan. I just love good football and the cowboys are back to that again. Always liked them growing up in Oregon but I'm a Hawk. Steve Largent was my favorite player growing up. That said, I can't think of any call so bad in such an important game as that Dez catch in GB. Just atrocious. If there was a worse critical call let me know. I was glad though cause the Hawks might not have been so lucky versus that cowboy team. Loved Romo. How could you not respect Romo.

I hope the cowboys beat the eagles.

Thanks Apache.

It's already been said... but what I still cannot figure out is how, even if the ball moved, he still regained control with his full body in bounds rolling in the end zone. There was never a time that the ball was on the ground and not in his grasp. He had it, dove, the ball bobbled, and he regrabbed it with his body never going out of bounds.

And then you consider the fact that the call on the field was a catch. It probably is the worst overturned call of all time.

Am I still bitter.... hell yes I am! The ref was either a complete moron or somebody had a reason for making that call.

I'm still bitter too. That and our last Big 12 game against tu when they called the phantom "unsportsmanlike conduct" call which let tu win the game. Those are the two I'll mention on my deathbed

2014 LSU game. Offsides not called. Interception on what everyone thought was a free play. Game over. Still mad about it

I'm still bitter about the LSU fumble last year that was overlooked because the officials were distracted by calling a blindside block and didn't finish officiating the play, then they CYA themselves by ruling bogus forward progress therefore making it un-reviewable. Our momentum into the offseason is so much different if that call is made. There were no fewer than 5 LSU players on the sideline that surrender cobra'd when the fumble happened. Everyone knew it was a fumble except for the guys getting paid to make the actual call

If I was a betting man I'd be all over the Boys. That's a lot of points to lay against a good team.
