Thank goodness we didn't get DeSantis. We would have totally missed this Jerry Springer-esque meltdown. Nice work, folks.
I honestly don't know if we will ever see another Republican prez again in our lifetimes.
Nope, and it will be the fault of Trump and MAGA.
Maybe partially...but a large % of our country is shockingly stupid, shallow and maleable.

We've descended into Idiocracy. Our stupidity is terminal.

To your point though...do you think any other GOP candidate could have won in 2024?

Desantis was my dream candidate...I like Vance too...but I don't think either would ever stand a chance.

Don't think Trump would have either had they not tried to kill him.
"Republican?" In the next, or following election.

"maga?" That's another question.
What is "Maga"? Define it.

From where I sit, one could easily argue that Desantis is far more "Maga" than Trump.

I think several could have because Biden was that bad, and Harris was worse.

Trump won the primary because of his (censored), but he won the general because the alternatives were far worse.

To be fair, there hasn't been a conservative President in office for approaching 40 years. (kidding, maybe?)

This is embarrassing for both of them. They're both acting like jilted schoolgirls trying to twist the knife instead of disagreeing like men.

I figured they'd have a falling out at some point. I just didn't think it would be so public and childish.

The President of the United States in an online shouting match with the richest and one of the most powerful men in the world.

What a time to be alive.
And, unlike Trump, who will not have the same power he has right now as POTUS in three years and seven months, Elon will have as much power, if not more, plus all the Eff-you money he could want. And Elon has been known to have a long memory for those who went out of favor with him.

This is fun right now, but it's something that, if Elon wants, can go on pause and then come back in full force once Trump is out of office.

Time will tell, but man does it make for great viewing.

I know I'm entertained.

Desantis/Vance would be a cool partnership. Both true conservative guys, but younger and more "in touch". Both come from humble beginnings...although Desantis didn't have to go through the extreme poverty/drug addiction drama.

"MAGA" are the people who blindly follow Trump and support anything and everything he does.

To them, Trump is omniscient, infallible, and basically a deity. They do not vote based on policy; they vote for the man and only the man.

And anyone who dares to question even the slightest thing Trump says or does, are shouted down by MAGA, called a leftist/commie/concerned moderate/etc., and accused of having TDS.

damn the commie posters all coming out of the woodwork getting their rocks off to trump and elon today.

...yes.. we should have all voted for the cackling marxist regime installment because trump and elon were predictably going to break up. if only trump didn't win last november: we might still have a wide open border, we might be spending trillions more on climate stuff.. we might be in a hot war with russia while china continues to laugh.. but at least trump and elon would still be frens.

There was a belief by many of us that the system was so crooked and corrupt that it required someone with significant wealth and power (and in particular, the ability to circumvent the media and communicate directly with Americans) to step in and do what Trump has done on the border and with DOGE.

Instead, Trump, being high on his power and approval ratings from the first 100 days, has decided to spend recklessly and adopt policies (like removing the debt ceiling) that will go down as one of the most irresponsible things to ever happen under an administration.

When AOC wins in 2028 and Congress passes a $100T Green New Deal bill, I hope you'll come back here and apologize to all of us for calling us commies because our allegiance is to principles, not people.

If you need a hero in your life you can worship I'd recommend Jesus, not Trump.
Would Jesus approve of how smug, condescending, and assuming you are being?

It's a two-party system. The choices were marxist and not marxist last November. The ones who supported the loser of that race getting all excited and getting their rocks off today over this petty and embarrassing display of immaturity in front of the entire world on social media is as predictable as the break up itself.
You sound like someone who is more allegiant to a person than you are principles.

I'm not defending Kamala or saying she would have been a better choice. But, we'll both have to reconcile that reality if they remove the debt ceiling and a democrat gets into office in 2028.

What's better: 4 more years of Biden-esque garbage, or a 4 year partial break (at least on the border and woke bull****) but opening the door to pandora's box to have no debt ceiling and a deficit in the hundreds of trillions in 10 years?

Because that's the reality we could potentially be facing if Trump gets his way on the debt ceiling.

I guess Rand Paul is a commie too...

As far as old-school conservative policies; no doubt.

As for defining maga, that would be like defining "Woke."

It means different things to different people, but to many that aren't right of center, and some CMs, maga seems to be the "I don't care," they'll support everything Trump ever does even if it harms their own self interests.

Again, that's the best that I've been able to gather, but like defining love, it can mean different things to different people.

Is this the billionaire equivalent of taking your ball and going home? Only it's a rocket ship and going to Mars.
Dragon isn't the one that is going to Mars, that is Starship. Dragon is the rocket that is putting all the Starlink satellites into orbit and carring our astronauts to and from the Space Station.
Dragon is the capsule used for carrying cargo and people to and from the ISS.

It doesn't do anything with Starlink.

They both launch on the Falcon 9.
My bad. I read it as Falcon.

they're both getting what they deserve, but hopefully trump and his republicans take this as an opportunity to reflect on whether it's really a good idea to allow rich donors to purchase that amount influence and access. money in politics is a cancer and the trump admin has ratcheted it up to 11.

I hate to agree with georgiag, but yeah. It's pretty easy to hate both parties right now though. We haven't had a real re-alignment since the 50's-60's but it would be interesting to see if Elon has enough money to build a real 'fiscally responsible/sane American' party.

Frankly, I am doubtful he has enough money to do so. Maybe if he focused on just 25-30 or so states. I dunno, China has a lot more money than he does...

Get off your high horse. Democrats are just as bad - if not worse - considering the amount of time they have held office the past few decades.

I'd say the money is like alcohol and everyone in politics is an alcoholic. They are all "trying to quit" but have the best stocked bar. They can't figure out why they can't stop -- hold on, let's stop at this liquor store.
