Trump sucks up all the oxygen in the room. He will be the preferred candidate for 40% of the Republican Party for the rest of his life. Regardless of his platform or team. Those 40% like his "fight" and personality and nothing is going to change that.

If Trump is in the race, no one else has a chance in a primary.

Some truth to that, but being focused on his promises and a growth package is even more important than trying to cut the deficit by an extra fraction through spending cuts. There are going to be more opportunities for cuts. and balancing the budget. Delays in the growth package and border security among other things would be even more damaging.

Growth is the ONLY way we have a chance to get out of it, and it will take a combination of holding the line on spending, cutting more, and strong growth. Without the growth, all we will have is misery, cuts or no cuts.


But growth alone won't do it, and that seems to be the play.

They don't need to balance the budget. Just stop growing the deficit. Or even better, cut spending slightly. Heck the budget deficit dropped every year of Obama's second term. So anything is possible. We had a $485B deficit in 2015 after having multiple $1T deficits from 2008 to 2012.

I see the Trump second term is going as expected. I didn't think he could out clown show what he's been doing the last few months but I underestimated the man. Things are going to be tense in the middle of the night when a drugged up Trump is trying to send looney tweets. For the sake of entertainment I hope he tells his handlers to pound sand and starts firing away.

The only way to work on the debt is to eliminate the deficit. DeSantis would be looking at $1.6T more in cuts than what Trump has proposed. How will that happen if they can't pass the cuts before them?

Wouldn't surprise me if this was manufactured, a form of controlled, scripted opposition. It is war with the dims (and some repubs) and the MSM. This is what I would do in a war. Keep your enemy completely misinformed and distracted by things that aren't true. Especially the MSM. They are giddy with this "feud".
