I joked with a buddy that Nebraska really is on hard times, recruiting quarterbacks from the six man ranks.

He doesn't let her off "because she's a scared mom." He let's her off because what chance does Noah have if his mom is in prison?
He's giving her the chance to make sure that Hal's death wasn't in vain. She killed him to protect her son, and now Jon is going to make sure she does exactly that which in turn might protect others from her son.

Loved the show but...
John saying "ax" in the most unnatural way possible
10am - school assembly followed by lab room talk.
Storage unit, desert walk, lake paddle, sinestro water boarding, lake paddle, desert walk
Still time to make 7pm kickoff?
Ok, when did Hal have time to rent another house and booby trap it before telling Kerry? Because it seemed like he told her immediately after he found out.
1st point: yeah, that's annoying
2nd point: All the off world stuff could be explained by time dilation. That could have been 5 Earth minutes.
3rd point: He knew at least a few days. He was healed, then followed him to the other world, found out about Sinestro and his plans, and then talked to Jon before getting killed by Kerry.
The "ax" stuff was just embarrassing by them. Stupid, plain stupid and somewhat racist if we're being honest.
And the other points require us to just handwaive aways pesky little details and ignore them....in other words amatuer writing.
I disagree.
I think it's stupid that they should have to account for every second of the day. The fact that people are looking up the number of miles between cities, discussing how long a day is on an alien planet, and how long it takes to find a new place to live in a city with less than 1000 people is just stupid. Especially if all of them can be explained with basic common sense. I don't need the entire thing spoon fed to me.

I'm not, nor have I ever, argued from the PoV of the guardians. I've already said I know nothing about them.
My remarks are strictly from this point of view that Jon is focused on Earth and humans. We have laws and societies on Earth. If he was truly as altruistic as some are pointing out, he would leave that up to the humans.
Again, if the purpose of the show is to give us a villain, then they succeeded. If they are trying to give us a hero to cheer for, I believe they failed.
Failed for you. John is not remotely a villain. By that logic the good guys in the Superman movie , including Superman are villains for interfering in in societies in that conflict and should have left it to the UN

To me its the haircut. I know that's Guy's haircut and in that regard it fits. But its always just odd to see Fillion with that mop on his head.

Can you show your work on the villain thing? I'm not sure I'm following that line of logic.

She killed him because she was protecting her son. Many, many, many parents would do the same thing and not lose much sleep over it.

And they'd deserve to go to jail for that act, just like she did.
No matter how selfishly noble her act may have been, she murdered the ****ing Green Lantern. An actual hero who's been protecting the Earth for over 30 years. And remember, she wasn't protecting her son from a deadly threat or even from jailtime. Hal wasn't actually planning on turning her son in or killing him. He was suggesting to her that they run and hide Noah on another planet. Buf no, this chick was so insistent that her son get to stay on Earth and play football that she shot Hal Jordan in the head!

If Superman were to let a murderer walk completely free, then I would agree he is not a good guy.
I get it's just a TV show and yall are happy to play make believe, but that was legit murder. She murdered a man in cold blood. This wasn't collateral damage in the course of defending the Earth from an intergalactic threat. She pulled out her guy and shot Hal Jordan in the head because she felt flustered.
Should we not send murderers to prison because it might mean their kids grow up without parents and may also one day murder because of it? What is this crazy worldview you people are spouting?

Former* Green Lantern. He was kicked out and such a big hero that no one showed up to his funeral.
And Jon let her go because that's what he figured Hal would have wanted. Which I think he was right in thinking.

The heroes in the James Gunn DC just plain suck. They're all emotionally crippled losers.
But I'll shut up now. If you guys made sense of the logic in this show and enjoyed it, more power to you. I'll stop being a party pooper.

So, John is going to protect Earth? Meh, I was hoping for some intergalactic stuff in Season 2. Maybe they will get more budget in S2 and we can see more constructs.

I've never read the comics, but I did watch some of the 70s/80s cartoons, so…
Sinestro forges a lantern with yellow cracks on a fear-infested planet, and it's not a lantern to power a yellow ring of fear?
EDIT: Sorry, I thought you were a different Cliff. That ones is still languishing in a well in the bottom of Backyard Gator's house while BG finishes the skin suit.

So there's a "Cliff Booth" and a "Cliff.Booth" on this board? It looks like Cliff.Booth has posted since mid-July in the Odyssey thread.

Well, not to tell tales out of school, but Cliff.Booth was TCTTS' foil on the Odyssey thread for about 200 straight pages. Then he vanished for a few days, then he came back with an odd apology and started being swell, then he vanished again, and hasn't been seen since, but a guy named Backyard Gator suddenly appeared on that thread and had pretty much almost all of Cliff's same takes and even mentioned Cliff multiple times as in "I don't know this Cliff guy, but he's not wrong." He bristled big time when ever someone called him Cliff, or my favorite moniker "Backyard Cliff". Once the Odyssey came out and was well received and did not have a scene where Elliot Page and Lupita N'yongo have sex with a centaur, the debate fizzled out, but the Cliff with a period in his name never returned.
You can imagine my excitement, albeit misinformed, when I thought the season finale of Lanterns had freed him from his slumber like Pennywise waking up every 27 years underneath Derry.

While I give it a 6-7, as an alternative to a number, I tend to think of shows in categories:
1) It sucked so bad I bailed
2) It sucked but I stuck it out
3) I was entertained but it was flawed enough that I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to others
4) I was entertained and would recommend it to others
5) I was highly entertained and would strongly recommend it to others
I'd probably put this as a 3. Probably a strong 3 but still a 3

It's kind of a dick move when this guy sees, when choosing a screen name, that there's already a "Cliff Booth", and he then goes with "Cliff.Booth".

Yes, if not for the casting, I'm probably at a 2. The casting helped it a lot
