it was funny, but it is the same face wallace makes every time he is dealing with michael.

I like how frustrated Wallace is whenever he's dealing with Michael lately

I enjoy the dilemma wallace is put in with the micheal situation.

Micheal is very unorthodox in his methods and considered by most if not all of his employees to be incompetent. The Scranton branch doing well despite this is really the only direction the show could have gone or else everyone would be asking why he doesn't get the axe.

I think I missed Wallace's face the first time because I was too busy laughing at Michael interpreting "thirty five hundred" as "$5,300." That's where it's easy to end up missing jokes, looks, and other bits of hilarity, because sometimes you don't get a chance to catch up on your laughing before they hit you again.

I was about to make this same comment, this is absolutely great to watch Wallace's handling of Michael. He brings Michael to NYC to find out why Scranton is doing so well, and learns absolutely nothing. Michael allows Dwight to nearly burn down the building and kill Stanley, and then he sends him on a lecture tour.

I just thought of something...

what if Karen really is preggers with Jim's baby? What if the boyfriend photos were fakes(like a friend or something) because Karen just wanted to put it behind her now that Jim is with Pam and she knows she has no chance against Jim's love for Pam...any chance?

or just a nice way to wrap it up...hmmmm

perhaps you've confused the office with days of our lives.

Unless Karen is having an elephant, it can't be Jim's. They broke up in May 2007.

The show is supposed to be real time.

oh yea, with the strike, it got weird, guess not, but it did seem rather trite to bring this on for a neat little wrap-up...

oh well...

That's the only time I laughed all episode, too. I smiled at Creed's line about getting a baby for $7K.

Again, quit overreacting. It wasn't the funniest episode ever, but there were funny moments. Definitely worth 22 minutes of my time.

Dwight describing his birth. I was waiting for him to say that was his 7th birthday. That would've been awesome.

It was average by Office standards. But that still makes it better than pretty much everything else on tv, so I'm not going to complain.

The baby line was classic. Creed delivers again.
WestTxAg06

Creed was money again.

The cats humping each other was quality.

Several good laugh out loud moments tonight. Nashua was a painful, uncomfortable disaster, just what I expected it to be.

This is the most bipolar thread on TexAgs. Well, I guess except for the politics board.

Were season 2 and 3 the peak of The Office?

Yes

Is the Office still one of the funniest shows on TV?

Yes

Lets leave it at that.

Between the hate for "The Dinner Party" and this episode, I finally figured out that half of you don't realize how funny painfully awkward situations can be. Did you people see the original British series? If you need a show with laugh-track type laughs, 2.5 Men and Worst Week air on Mondays on CBS.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
The British version was better.

I can't stand the awkward episodes like last night.

It wasn't my favorite, but plenty of stuff to make it a fun episode. I could have done without Pam trying to do Michael's schtick though.

Which is ironic, given the love for Season 1/Season 2 and the amount of uncomfortable awkwardness in some of those episodes.

I love when Michael manages to turn up the painful awkwardness to almost inhuman levels. Sometimes I feel like it's a horror movie and I need to hide my eyes.

This was a very disappointing follow up to a great episode last week.

The Angela plot line didn't even cause me to crack a smile. The Kelly plot line was only slightly better. A couple funny moments, but overall, a pretty lame storyline.

The Michael stuff was overdone. I get disappointed when the characters go beyond the point of believability. The appeal of the show is when they hit on realistic awkwardness that we can all relate to. But most of the stuff that happened with Michael and Pam was completely unbelievable, even for Michael Scott. I lose interest at that point.

So yeah, still better than most shows out there, but I thought that was in the bottom 25% of Office episodes.

Remember Michael laying on the floor behind Pam's desk after his GF dumps him for photoshopping himself into their old family photo with her kids? Or when she turns down his proposal in front of everyone at Kelly's party? Everyone likes those episodes, yet they had painfully awkward moments with Michael. What is the difference?

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Definitely not one of my favorite episodes, and pretty hard to watch Michael spontaneously combust in Nashua. I would have liked if he could have used Pam's speech as a springboard to suck it up and get through his presentation, but maybe I'm not being realistic there.

I think for every episode like this one - more sad and somber - it makes room for the hilarious episodes that are sure to come.
watty
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Are you asking me?

If so, personally I feel like there's a line in which Michael's awkwardness/studidity is believable (even for a sitcom in which some stretching of believability is granted) or not.

Laying behind Pam's desk is believable to me. Crawling backwards out of a presentation is not. Saying awkward things that are accidentally racist is believable. Driving into a lake is not.

Stepping on his George Foreman grill, while stupid, is believable enough for me. Having a regional manager thinking thirty-five hundred dollars means five thousand, three hundred dollars is not believable to me.

The believability line with certain jokes and storylines is obviously going to be different for different people. But it was certainly crossed for me, and in those cases, I am disappointed and I don't enjoy the show as much as I otherwise would. I still enjoy it though.

To me, the best shows are the ones that are like the first ones. Based on true things could happen in a real office just like that and with just enough awkwardness to make you relate and feel uncomfortable. I can appreciate some departure into silliness or ridiculousness (after all, Scrubs is my favorite show), but I still want the show to retain as much integrity for realism as possible.

The Angela plotline had nothing to do with an office setting. It was just, hmm, what can we do here... let's see... let's have someone lick a cat! Lazy, in my opinion.

Since the show is called The Office, and the first shows were about things like benefits and performance reviews and stuff that actually happens in offices every day, that's what I wish they'd focus on more. And I liked the idea of Michael going on the lecture circuit (and loved last week's episode), but I just thought they lost me by taking some things too far. I would like to see more episodes centered around sales calls and business ethics and office politics and attempts to motivate employees and stuff like that.

That's just me though. I still watch every week and will continue doing so.

Awkwardness fuels The Office. I remember watching the first season and wishing for a commercial break just to get it over with. But along the way you get used to it and grow numb. The awkwardness gives a contrast to the rest of the show and makes it funnier. However, they haven't done many of extremely awkward episodes since the third season (except for the dinner party).

In the past, they've used Michael almost exclusively for the extremely awkward moments. Last night they branched out. Pam and Angela both had very awkward moments. Yes, it was painful but it needed to be.

slighlty below average episode. Angela by herself should never be the main focus. She needs Andy or Dwight to make her funny. Michael was over the top but still got some laughs. I really enjoyed the Kelly/Jim/Dwight story. I imagine we will see a lot more a Jim and Dwight thrown together to accomplish something in future episodes

This episode would have been much better with less Angela and more Nard Dog
Redstone
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I am glad the writers realize that Jim and Dwight are funny.

We need more Dwight, more Nard Dog, more Kevin, more Creed, and less Anglea, Michael, and Pam.
