I like her but am not a book peddler.

The point is that context and details are not easy to summarize. Energy diminishment is an involved process, as is protection.

Our previous house had a lock off apartment that we used as my office and the bedroom as a guest room. On occasion because I was snoring or a kid was sleeping in our bed I would sleep up there. Every once in a while I'd wake up because it felt like someone slapped the foot area of the mattress really hard. My wife had the same experience. Both of us it happened to multiple times.

One time during the winter (we are in Colorado) it was pretty chilly so I had the comforter and blankets on. I woke up in the middle of the night and all the blankets and sheets were pulled onto the floor and spread out some.

I usually have a bottle of water by the bed and one night I woke up soaking wet. I thought I pissed myself initially. I pulled back the covers and the full bottle of water was dumped all over me and the bed and the bottle was still under the covers by my knees.

Could it have been me that imagined the slapping and did the covers and water myself in my sleep. I guess but it doesn't seem like it.

Not sure about the slapping, but the other two seem like they could have been you to me. Seems exactly like that.

I don't consider the following "ghosts", but some form of souls probably from Purgatory. A friend of my son is a priest, and he (priest) mentioned in a very low key matter-of-fact way that he often receives deceased "visitors" at night, real as you or me, asking for his prayers. kind of like a Sixth Sense type of thing it sounded like.

I believe there is a very real and present spiritual world around us at all times, from guardian angels to evil spirits (fallen angels).

As far as "ghosts" I'm not sure exactly what those are or if there is only one kind. I can see a physical, natural explanation for the energy that might be created through the life or death of a person, but beyond that what is incomprehensible is that that energy could interact with us so that it is not only an "image" from the past, but something "living", so to speak.

I believe in trusting in Christ and not worrying (certainly) about such things, and not delving into them for sure. We'll all know the low down soon enough!

Not sure if I believe or not, but I want to believe I was visited by two loved ones that had passed. The visit was within days of their passing and no such encounter since.

I'm also open to it simply being my mind working through the grieving process. Either way, it has sparked my interest in the paranormal. A team I'm with, Deep Woods Paranormal, will be doing a live investigation at the Woodbine hotel on October 31st. I approach things purely scientific. I have theories about "spirits" that involve particle physics and the law of conservation of energy. If nothing else, this project, and the way I approach it, has increased my understanding of the physical world.

After my grandfather, who I was extremely close with, passed away I had - and still do - some incredibly vivid dreams about waking up with him sitting at the foot of the bed. We'll talk about life decisions I have coming up, stresses I have, etc. A lot of the things we'd talk about while he was alive. My family jokes that I took on his role in the family and how much more like him I become as the years progress. It's just my subconscious working my way through stresses in life with a trusted source.
bump from outdoor board bringing this thread up...

My grandfather passed in '16. In the last ~five years I've had 3 dreams where its clear as day that we have conversations. Similarly to you we talk about life and things going on. i talk about missing him and my grandmother missing him. The conversations ends as any real world conversation would end with a hug and a good-bye and he leaves. I wake up emotional but at peace and that feeling stays with me for as long as a week some times. Very eerie as I'm a wimp when it comes to ghost & the supernatural but at the same time its so vivid that its comforting.

Had an encounter when I was a lot younger. My dad and I were heading to the deer blind early one morning on the family place. It was my great grandparents homestead and the house they built is still on the property & used frequently as my grandmother & her sisters kept up the house up into the their 80s. Anyways one morning we were walking to the deer blind and I'm walking head down since its dark and I'm trying to a avoid stepping on anything that would make noise but in the corner of my eye I see someone in kaki overalls walking next to me. First I think its my dad and don't think anything of it right away until I realize, the guy doesnt look like my dad at all & he's actually in front of me and wasn't wearing overalls and when I went to fully look at the person there was no one there. Freaked out a little bit told my dad what I saw and still went hunting after a quick look around. After the hunt we went the the house because my grandmother and all her sisters were there and visited for awhile. Being a young kid I went looking around the house snooping into everything & found a picture of a man in kaki overalls that looked like who I saw. I took the picture to my grandmother and asked who this was and was told that it was my late great grandfather.

Over the past 25 years I never talked about the encounter past that day and didn't want to. I had convinced myself that I imagined the whole event, that was until around Christmas this year. A friend of my aunt was at our holiday party. We were all talking about old stories and someone brought up all the thanksgivings at the old homestead place and then this lady proceeds to tell a story of being there 15 years ago with my aunt& uncle and a older man in kaki overalls walked in on her in the bathroom when she was giving her toddler a bath in the house. She apologized to the man and told him that they would be done shortly and continued giving her kid a bath. Once they were done she told my aunt that the older man was free to use the bathroom which freaked out my aunt since no one lived there at the time. My uncle checked the house but no one was there. She said that she looked around the house and at the picture and the old man was in one of the pictures who turned out to be my aunts grandfather or my Great Grandfather. Apparently really freaked out my aunt and she didn't want to hear anything about it. My dad looked at me and said well it sounds like you actually did see him that morning.

It scares and comforts me a little bit now knowing that It wasn't a kids overactive imagination that day and that theres something or some sort of life after this. And really how cool is it to be able to say that my late great grandfather went hunting with us that day.

Spending the next 2 nights at the Strater Hotel in Durango. It's supposedly haunted. We're on the 3rd floor of 4 floors.

I'll head down the hallway later tonight with a book and a rum/coke to see if anything appears.

One night back in 2018, my now wife had her sisters and mom over for dinner/drinking spending the night. While we were all drinking, my now mother in law told me a story about how an older Japanese man stopped by to say goodbye to his first home in America. He and his wife built the house, and he said his wife always wanted to see the place one last time. She passed away the day prior/ never got a chance. He was simply paying his respects to his wife.

I turned white.

About a year prior, the future mrs and one of her sisters told me a story about how they remember seeing a ghost as a kid. It was an older Asian woman. It went through the door into each of their bedrooms, looked at them, looked around the room, and then went to the next room. Their parents had recently gone through a bad divorce, so they told the therapists and each other and left it at that.

Turns out, the woman got a chance to see her house one last time after all. I immediately brought them into the room to hear the story their mom told me. They pinned it down to the correct timeframe because of the divorce. That was a pretty crazy evening.

If ghosts are spirits that at one time had a body and clothes are things that lack spirit. Why do ghost show up with clothes on? What determines what they're wearing?

A common thing I've been reading is that ghosts will wear clothing as seen in a picture or what they would be wearing based on era and place. Wouldn't that be our imagination assigning them the clothing we think we see them in? How does it work???

Tarleton State University 1973:

Four friends and I went to southern Erath County to a place called McDow's Hole.
The full story of the haunting is here:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/texashillcountry.com/haunting-mcdow-hole/amp/

TLDR: a settler's wife named Jenny Papworth and a child disappeared in the 1860s and were never found nor was a solid suspect ever arrested.
In subsequent years travelers would report ghostly sightings of Jenny and the baby, including one Tarleton student who reportedly went insane after spending a night near the cabin.

In Spring 1973 my friends and I went to the site where she had been seen. It was after dark and as we approached, there was a long, piercing scream, louder than any human could vocalize. We left immediately and the next day went to the sheriff's office to report it. The deputy smiled and said "okay", sending us away with the impression that he thought it was a joke.
The Stephenville area has seen paranormal stuff subsequently with the widely reported UFO sightings in 2008.

I stayed up reading last night, until 11:30, in an armchair in the 3rd floor corridor. Didn't see Jack. Went to bed and then awoke at 2:45 AM. Got dressed and roamed around on the 3rd floor. Still nothing.

Hoping tonight will be more interesting.

You want to hear some wild ass ghost stories … go back and listen to some of those old episodes of Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell.

Particularly the special episodes he did called 'Ghost to Ghost AM' People would call in from all over the world. You'd be driving at night listening to that **** and it would keep you from falling asleep.

You going down the road looking for the mothman to jump out and get you. Looking in the sky for anything looked suspect.

IN any event, theres a podcast that takes out the commercials and runs the segments back to back.

Name of it is 'art bell tape vault'

Next 2 nights are at The Antlers in Colorado Springs, which is also supposedly haunted. So maybe something will happen here.
