Ok I'll finally share my experience.....
Some quick background facts:
- Happened about 2 years ago
- I've never had anything like this happen before
- I didn't believe in "ghosts" before this happened
- It happened in a newer apartment here in Austin
I wanted to put those things out there beforehand because those are some of the reasons it's hard to explain what the heck happened.
On to the story.... I lived with my girlfriend at the time in a one bedroom apartment which had been built only a few ears earlier (usually these things happen in old mansions, woods, or Indian burial grounds, right?). We had been living together for about a year and things started to go south and we slowwwwwwlllyyyy broke up. But since we lived together it made the move out and everything a long drawn out process so we still were staying in the same bed and all. One night during break up period, I was woken up but didn't actually know I was awake yet at this point. In the doorway to our bedroom was a dark figure standing there that I could make out to be an elderly woman (the apartment never got to dark). I sat up and just stared for what seemed to be about 30 seconds. It was long enough to see that the woman was giving small shakes of her head in what seemed to be disappointment. I wasn't scared at this point because I thought I was dreaming. What happened next is when I realized it wasn't a dream. As I was staring at the lady in the doorway, our dog that slept on the bed with us wakes up and starts barking in uncontrollably (he was not a barker) and then the lady takes a step out of the doorway towards our living room. The dog jumps off the bed and runs out there still barking crazy. The gf wakes up and asks what's going on, and I just get up and he's out into the living room to turn on the lights and get the dog to shut up. As soon as I turn on the lights, there is no sign of any lady and our do had climbed up the back of one of our chairs and hopped onto our kitchen counter and was sitting there shaking scared (also a first at the time). I was speechless and the gf was asking what was wrong because I must have looked really scared/confused but I didn't tell her anything. We got the dog and went back into bed. I spent the rest of the night playing it over and over again in my head trying to figure out if I was crazy. I ended up telling the gf a week later what had happened that night and she froze and then continued to tell me she has been dreaming alot of her recently passed grandmother and she immediately came to the conclusion that it had to have been her. The weird little kicker to that is that we had gone to her grandmother's funeral together which was my first funeral (all my grandparents died when I was really young and in a different state). There were not many people that were able to make her grandmother's funeral and to make a long story short, I asked to be a pall-bearer. Anyways, I've come to the conclusion, this was definitely not a dream even though that seems though that seems like te easiest answer and to this day, I can relive the whole thing in my head quite clearly.
