Glenmorangie Tale of Spices arrived, it is a step up from the last few Tales, but does not reach Cake levels. Has a very nice red wine finish (subtle but clearly there) and spice but would not equate to a marrekesh market.

I've only had tales of the forest (posted about it here before). The cake didn't sound like my cup of tea. How would you rank them all?
Oh that's a loaded question amigo, but personally I'd go Cake, Spices, Ice Cream, Forest, Tokyo... I think. Have not done a full side by side tasting, but that would be a fun time, wish I had another Cake to make that happen, hesitant to crack that last cake.
I did stumble across an Ardnamurchan Midgie today that I was hopeful I would find. Very light and subtle, like you put a cube of ice in a glass of Caol Ila and let it melt. Quite nice for a low price, I think I'll have another pour now
A pair of Kilchomans up on TW concierge if anyone's looking for something new that's not going to break the bank. I'm tempted but staying strong waiting on some other stuff to land on shelves.
Picked up my Spice today. I really like Ice Cream, Forest is decent. I always have an eye out for a Cake, just in case an old one wanders onto a shelf :-) Never got one when they came out.

They have dropped a US only 7 year old, The Laddie Rye:
Aged for seven years and bottled at 50% ABV, The Laddie Rye has spent the entirety of its maturation life on Islay in a combination of quality first-fill bourbon barrels and first-fill Virgin American Oak casks. The Virgin Oak casks have been toasted rather than charred, allowing the peppery aromas and distinct flavors of the Islay grown rye to come to the fore.
I can confirm it is Houston as I have a bottle in the truck I grabbed from TW in The Woodlands at lunch for $60. I cannot wait to crack this open tonight for a neck pour.

Okay, this definately did not belong over on the bourbon thread. I have not decided if I absolutely love it or just like it. It is NOT what I was thinking when thinking rye, nothing about it is American style rye whiskey (and I do like American ryes). With a 55% Islay grown rye and 45% malted barley mash bill, it's not like anything I have tried that I can remember.
Will definately take more than a rushed can't wait to try it pour to really pick out what is going on but if it was cold out I'm willing to bet this 100 proof experimental pour would shine, and is worthy of a Solari emoji off the jump.

Walked into a Specs today and got excited to find a 8 year Hazelburn fully aged in oloroso. I've not seen a Hazelburn on the shelf in maybe 18 years so you know that came home with me.
Last week my wife asked if I was looking for anything because she was stopping at TW so I said see of they have the new 110 proof Macallan 12 year sherry. She thought she got the right one but in fact she grabbed the standard proof 12 year. No big deal, it'll get opened. Popped in to the same TW a couple days later and found the 110 proofer so grabbed it too.

Grabbed this Macleod's 28 year sherry cask single malt Highlands scotch from TW concierge presale and finally opened it up last night.

Sounds like we'll be seeing an Ardbeg 10 year cask strength next year, I'm going to be watching TW Concierge like a hawk for that bad boy for pre-order if they offer it.

Anyone ever try the Ledaig Sinclair Rioja cask finish? If so, thoughts?
Not familiar with that specific release from the but I have had my eye on the Ledaig Hebridean Moon release, a 10 year cask strength offering.
Found a lonely Ardbeg Fermutation at Spec's yesterday so I brought it home with me for the bunker, need one more to make my x3, gonna be tough to close that out. Hard to Find Whisky has it but at 350 pounds I'm just gonna see if I find one on a shelf by luck.
