Was good to see Timmy hit those 2 FTs down the stretch, too.

Not getting into the paint here in the second quarter. Settling for way too many jump shots and they're not falling.

Pop didn't have to answer any questions.

Brilliant!

Spurs (for the brief moment) are back on top of the west.

The Spurs should have a great shot at getting it. Portland is starting to level off and OKC really struggles without Westbrook. The Spurs need to try and create some separation before ASB. The Splitter injury hurts though.

Right now is it realistic to think that not one spur will be an all star this year? I think Tim is more deserving than Tony but there are a lot of big men I would put in front of Tim in the west.

As long as Marco is in the 3pt shoot out it wouldn't bother me.

Pop is ineligible to coach the West because he did it last year.

Ken Berger and other outlets have claimed the Spurs have been ultra aggressive in looking to make a trade this season. Take it fwiw.

Thaddeus Young is a popular name being thrown out there linked to the Spurs.

Forgive my ignorance, but is he a wing or an undersized PF? His offensive numbers per 36 look pretty good, but his 3 point shooting is puzzling. He has a couple seasons where he attempted >100 3s (and has shot more than 70 this year), but he also has four seasons where he shot about 20 3s or less. He also isn't a great rebounder, averaging about 7 boards per 36 for his career. Which is back to my original question about if he's a wing or undersized post. Also he doesn't appear to be a very good defender. He's got a career defensive rating of 106. Not sure where we'd plug him in and who we'd have to give up to get him.

He's a PF all the way, but if I would've been the 6ers I would've kept him at SF his whole career. He has adapted well to PF. He's still crazy athletic and strong with a good post game and a good mid range game. They have spencer hawes at center and he shoots 3s, so Thad doesn't take as many anymore. He would instantly be your most athletic player right with Kawhi and tony

Thanks magnolia. I'm not sure what we'd have to give up to get him would be worth his addition.

Tiago, etc.

Really I have no clue, but the spurs fans on here may have a better idea.
mAgnoliAg

And you are correct about his defense being iffy, but y'all have great defenders elsewhere.

Edit: I think he's a good offensive rebounder because of athleticism, but his effort and size can be a problem in the defensive boards.

For all of his frustrations, Splitter is our only other 7 footer and is an excellent defender. He's not a shot blocker, but he moves his feet as well as any big and plays the pick and roll very well. Moving Tiago would leave us with only Timmy with any real size and a plethora of 6'8" small ball PFs.

Oh and actually I just looked and a couple places have him listed as a SF this year. I've watched them a few times this year and I think he was at PF. I don't know. He could fill minutes at both for y'all.

splitter blows

i still can't believe he conned the spurs into that gigantic contract.

While Splitter can certainly be frustrating he's still necessary. He played extremely well against Golden State and Memphis last year before the awful finals performance. I can tell you if the Spurs had played the Pacers in the finals, Spurs fans opinion of Tiago would be quite different right now.

As for Thaddeus, I think he would be a great addition here. Your typic small ball 4 who is extremely athletic, much more so than Leonard. He plays hard and he's a smart kid. A tandem of Young and Leonard (and Green) would give the Spurs multiple wing defenders that can guard multiple spots. Saying that, I don't think it would be worth getting rid of somebody like Splitter or Diaw. If we could swing the trade without throwing in a major piece than I'm all for it. I think the Spurs biggest weakness right now is that third reliable defender to go a long with Leonard and Green though.

Mathematically, the spurs could acquire Young by using their lower level assets ( bonner, de colo, ayres, baynes, etc) and of course Philly is most interested in draft picks.

If we could essentially swap Young for Ayres, I'm all for it. But I don't see how Philly would be willing to accept all of our end of the bench guys for one of their starters.
Enzo The Baker

Young is having a career year. He's part of Phili's core. I don't see them parting with him. Unless they want to tank even farther. Plus he makes $9MM a year.

Splitter is frustrating as hell to watch but the numbers don't lie. The Spurs are much better defensively when he is playing.

Watching Mills and Barea go at it makes me tired just watching. Both those guys are constantly running around.

With a win tonight in NOLOA, the Spurs will be the first team to 30 wins. DG is out. Manu may be back.

Sprained finger for Green. It'd be nice to have Manu bsck, but no need to rush him.

On a note to last night, the defense played on Kevin Love was outstanding. He missed some shots he'd normally make, but he got no clean looks and we kept him off the three point line. Minnesota wasn't quick enough swinging the ball around to take advantage of the fronting and backside help that Love commanded.

Green is out four weeks with a fractured hand.

Gonna need Manu back hopefully tonight.
