So i am in the market for a second Tesla as my dock car for work. I am heavily leaning towards a rebuilt title or lemon law buy back car simply due to how cheap they are. Lemon law cars still have factory warranty and paperwork showing what was addressed and rebuilt ones do not.

Has anyone gone that route? There is a massive market for these cars and I am sure it can be hit or miss, but I just want something for work. Most likely keep it 6+ years and it will be my kids first car as well. Looking at 23 model Y with hW 4 or newer.

Still in the market? How about an X?

Off topic, but it's under discussed how massive autonomous electric trucking would be economically. Validation for semi starting to become apparent.

FSD on Semi would be a game changer. I have driven 6 hrs+ on FSD and never felt tired.

I hear the cost per mile is around 25% of Diesel. Add on much lower maintenance and it is a no brainer.

But will they wait until they see you coming alongside while you are going full speed and going uphill to decide to jump into the left lane in front of you so they can pass an even slower semi...? Because that better be included in the programing. We don't want to have Elon ruin our road trip driving experience, right...?

Less than half per mile. Diesel is $5.60/gal. Trucks get around 8 mpg. Semi uses 1.75 kWh/mile.

Randomly saw this guy's post on X yesterday about his Tesla almost driving off the sixth floor of a parking garage somehwere. Didn't realize he was in College Station until coincidentally just seeing this follow up post of his. Wild.

The real question is why the F do they only have semitransparent wire as the only barrier to the outside 6 floors up? Engineering fail.

Lots of garages are like that. I don't think they anticipated a robot car trying to drive off a cliff

How about drunks or old people?

If drinks are driving around and drive off a parking garage they are kind of getting what they deserve, no?

I would also doubt there are many old people driving around the top floor of a college apartment parking garage.

Apparently even drunks and old people (for the most part) can perceive that they are several stories up and/or can't drive through steel cables.

Believe that wire is specced to stop that level of impact, so in reality he probably wasn't going to go flying over the edge without intervention. Interesting that the presence indicator showed a barrier (red heat map) around the car on the other video that shows the interior screen, meaning it seems to be aware there's a barrier there.

Hopefully V15 is bringing improvements to parking garages and parking lots.

So if I'm in a FSD vehicle and I'm drunk can I still get a DUI?

For FSD (Supervised), yes you can still get DUI for being drunk in the drivers seat

Edit: In other words, don't set the FSD to Mad Max mode while drunk and/or have a good lawyer

Found a 2023 Y with HW4 and lifetime FSD and something like 30k miles and a rebuilt title but has had the Tesla inspection for supercharging for $28k. Really hope it doesn't sell before I can go look at it next week.

The rebuilt title would be a no-go for me. Surprised Tesla would actually certify the vehicle at all.

It's very common, as well as the market for Tesla buybacks. You can see the images from the auctions and decide what kind of damage you're willing to tolerate being fixed. A LOT of them are just fenders and bumpers. It's kind of crazy what Teslas get totaled for tbh.

This is a third car I'll be using almost exclusively for driving to and from different ports for the next 3 or so years then it will just be a spare car until my oldest turns 16. I'm really not too concerned with it. There are dealerships where nearly their entire business model is buying damaged Teslas, repairing them and selling at a steep discount.

Verify the FSD is actually transferable. Probably is on a 2023 Model Y, but some vehicles have an existing perpetual license that was transferred from a previous vehicle and FSD can only be transferred from one car to another once.

Isn't that only on the older vehicles with FSD when they were running promos? Didn't run in to that with our X and lifetime FSD either. Either way you're just changing ownership through the Tesla app, I had not heard about that ever meeting the lifetime FSD. will check it out.

Doesn't matter when we still allow the lowest common dominator to drive in a car dependent world, you are bound to have people run into things regardless.

This BMW fell from an Austin parking garage with a similar wire barrier setup. And as the story points out, this wasn't the first time this has happened.

I may be misremembering, but my recollection is that during some of their transfer promotions they allowed existing owners with FSD to transfer the license to a new car purchase, but that the resulting new car purchased did not allow the license to be transferred to a new owner when ownership was transferred in the app.

Should be a very low population of vehicles. Believe it says "(Non-Transferrable)" in the Full Self Driving screen next to the Included indicator.

Transferable FSD from one vehicle to another on the same Tesla account was only limited to specific promos that Tesla has run. The last promo ended back in March right when Tesla announced that FSD would be subscription only. That prompted me to go ahead and trade in my 2023 Model Y for a 2026 Juniper Model Y so I could transfer FSD from my 2018 Model 3 to the Juniper Model Y.

Anyone else experiencing random changes in the speed limit that aren't accurate? I've had multiple instances for a couple of months where I'm on FSD and the speed limit will drop from like 75 to 55 for a mile or less then go back up. About 20 minutes ago I was in a 60 and it changed lanes in front of a tractor trailer then dropped the speed limit to 40 for like 30 seconds. Definitely an awkward situation it put me in. I hit the gas to push it along but it's happening enough to make me wonder what's going on with it.

I have a '17 Model 3 and it's not good at speed limits. I assumed it was either the age or the fact that I'm in BFE. It changes speed limits about 100 yds after the sign. There's a section of road in Oklahoma that I drive that is 65 mph. It thinks the first few miles are 55 and then it switches to 75 mph. Neither is correct. I've only had this car for a few weeks though.

Oh fun.

Went into service and it was at 12.3v. going to go ahead and take the Landcruiser to pickup the battery.

Next available mobile repair to replace it is Sept 23rd.

I have no idea where you live but in Austin, they have mobile service that will come to your house and do it in less than an hr. Price was reasonable too

I live in Houston and it is over 30min to the closest service center. I just drove there and picked up a battery.

The next available mobile service was late Sept. When I first had my battery replaced, they just rolled up to my house same day and swapped it out. It was great.
