Yeah I had zero thoughts on a Tesla till my nieces boyfriend said he would go summon his car and it would pick him up at front of the hospital lol. Went to showroom and was "Test driven" and was sold. Will be nice to just rest and listen to podcast without the driving stress.

Just picked up a 2017 Model 3 for $10k. Serial number 00630. We will see if these things are as long lived as the fan boys say. It has 146,000 miles. I was going to get something like a newer model S in a couple years to replace my diesel mercedes which is costing a fortune to commute a 110 miles a day. I live in BFE so when this came up for sale close by I had to take it. I financed it and it will cash flow the loan just on fuel savings. If I can get 80,000 miles out of it, it's a free car. I realize the technology is nothing like Tesla is putting out today, but it's still an awesome car.

Waiting on our model Y premium sitting at gigafactory in Austin… they've pushed the delivery dates back about 2 weeks. Def frustrating, but looking forward to the FSD for my 100 mile round trip commute everyday.

It's a game changer going from NB to San Antonio every day. What you're really going to love is not touching the wheel on 37 South.

You're gonna want one of these. Mount at the top left corner of your screen. You can look at the phone and not piss off the internal Tesla camera.

Yeah going to need to install a charger down there. I don't remember seeing one on the island. Will be nice to just chill on those Friday drives down and not be amped up from
driving.

original battery? how much range at 80% or 100% charge?

my 2018 model 3 has 128000 miles on it, 200 miles at 80% charge, 250 at 100%

Getting our 4th Tesla for my daughter's 18th bday. We will have 3 Tesla and a bolt (used to teach the other kids how to drive).

Never have issues with range. FSD is amazing. Summon is cool but usually not necessary although I did have it pick me up from the club house after finishing a golf round in 100 degrees with cabin temp at 75.

Travelled, rented a newish SUV, and the experience was night and day. I had to actually drive and pay attention. Could not eat a sandwich easily. Acceleration was pedestrian. Car must have been 150 degrees when I sat down. ICE cars are just such a bad product for majority of drivers.

Cost has become a non issue too given the price of a model 3 or y RWD is less than a new car.

Original battery. Has 225 miles at 100%.

I will add for those thinking about buying one. The 225 is not highway speed with the ac on. That range is more like 190 vs 225. Then, if you want to keep it between 80% and 20% range you're down to 115. Just something to think about.

My 2018 is almost identical on range.

Had an employee involved in a wreck the other day. Our guy just pulled out from a stop sign and t-boned the other driver. Said he just didn't see the other car. For companies that are serious about safety, I don't see how FSD doesn't enter the equation pretty soon. I mentioned it to the CEO and VP of safety, but they are not familiar with the statistics and kind of dismissed it as not being ready yet. An engineering control that eliminates reliance on the human exists.

I let it drive home from the gym this morning including through a school zone. Two years ago it didn't recognize school zones at all. With v14 is now slows down to the posted school zone limit. The one I drive though to get home has a left turn after you slow down and it's been prone to forget after that turn but this morning it held the school zone and looked like it was going to get it right. Then the crossing guard stepped out to drop traffic. It saw the pedestrian and the stop sign he was holding which was good but when he returned to the sidewalk the car lost track of the school zone and tried to return to the regular speed limit. I e sent a couple of voice memos on it. Ultimately they're going to have to figure out how to know it's left that school zone.

We get a car allowance and this was a huge reason our CEO expanded the gap between what we are reimbursed for a ICE vehicle and an EV plus allows us to expense FSD as long as we submit a screenshot of >90% utilization

Especially for elderly drivers. Start giving the 70+ crowd a driver's test every year or two. Don't pass, trade it in for a CyberCab.

When we were at the Tesla showroom the kid we spoke to said they are selling a lot more to older drivers who are still with it and able to do their day to day but were a little uncomfortable daily driving. They said has been working really well. Said they sold one to a 95yo recently lol. Also said they heard of one they sold said the driver had a heart attack and somehow the son got notified as car pulled over. Son told car to send to closest emergency room and it sent him, saved his life. Idk how all that works but pretty dang cool.

I have an in-law in his 90s and wants a Tesla for FSD. I think it's a great idea. People that old don't need to be driving.

I was driving downtown with the sun in my face. Heavy traffic, light was green. Car suddenly slowed down to a stop and swerved right. A sec later, A homeless guy was jaywalking right in the middle on Congress Ave and in no way could I have seen him before the car. I have no idea how the car saw him because he was blocked by the car on my left. For 99.9% of driving situations, FSD is safer than humans. In reality, if all cars were FSD, accidents would go down significantly.

Ads like this are why I am seriously considering a rebuilt title on a car that has had the Tesla battery inspection done.

Tesla obviously cannot sense heart attacks but can detect if someone isn't paying attention to the road. So when the driver had a heart attack that eventually triggered FSD to pull over since the driver was no longer paying attention. From there, it is very easy to re-route through the app. My wife and I do it all the time with each other.

This is probably what they're referring to. You can send navigation to the car by using Apple/Google Maps and hitting send to Tesla.

So i am in the market for a second Tesla as my dock car for work. I am heavily leaning towards a rebuilt title or lemon law buy back car simply due to how cheap they are. Lemon law cars still have factory warranty and paperwork showing what was addressed and rebuilt ones do not.

Has anyone gone that route? There is a massive market for these cars and I am sure it can be hit or miss, but I just want something for work. Most likely keep it 6+ years and it will be my kids first car as well. Looking at 23 model Y with hW 4 or newer.

Still in the market? How about an X?

Lol I look at all the auction photos of any car I am interested in. It's actually insane what will cause a Tesla to have a total loss. Like damage the rear bumper and a quarter panel and BOOM total loss. If Tesla inspects the battery and enables supercharging on their network I am totally cool with a $15k discount.

Plus we already have one model X so we don't need another one.
