That ball had to be thrown back to appease the baseball gods. If the Dodgers would have won, as an Astros fan would you really want the ball that crushed an entire city. It would be cursed and bring pain to whoever possessed it.
So...its the 7th or 8th inning and the Astros have the lead in game 6 and Verlander is laboring.

A) Go with your struggling bullpen, knowing that you have McCullers on full rest, with Morton behind him on 3 days rest for game 7
B) Try to close out the series with McCullers on 3 days rest as he did in Game 7 of the ALCS knowing that it means your starter for Game 7 is Morton on 3 days rest (unlike full rest as he did in Game 7 of the ALCS) and McCullers unavailable

I think we can just mark you down for "It depends" rather than go through what youd do in every possible scenario. Obviously if the Astros are winning 12-2 they probably arent gonna put McCullers in to close it out.

If it's by one and the top of the order, then yes.
If it's by 3+ in the 8th with 2 outs and the bags empty and the 7 spot is up, probably let Verlander roll on unless he wants to come out.

It looks like he may be the victim of the WS ball. All of the pitchers seem to be saying they are slick and it's affected their ability to throw sliders. Giles is a fastball/slider pitcher that has lost his slider.
