McLane cared more about his pocketbook than winning it all. He assembled teams that would make the playoffs every year, but traded away too many prospects to win now. He never wanted to rebuild so eventually he had to pay too much for names as referenced above.

I don't blame Drayton as much as his kids. If they wanted the team, he'd never have needed to gut payroll to make he sale. Who doesn't want to inherit a baseball team?

On flip side, if he doesn't make the sale, they never get in the position they are in now.

When his effort fell short, he hoped the next generation would step up, but no one in the family was interested.
The last couple years Daddy-D was cutting overhead for a sale because he had mentally moved on.....

Fans seems to always forget owners are generally business people first so they're trying to maximize their asset.

We've had a lot worse owners in this town than Drayton McLane.

He is a businessman, and MLB is above all else a business. Can't blame him for putting his bank account first - winning trophies is, generally speaking, a secondary goal as it is. Making money is first.

Has anyone used the DirecTV app to stream games?

I was just searching for news to see if anything has changed in MLBs in network streaming because I want to cut the cord if possible and it looks like they started letting you stream games back in late May or early June...

Checking the app for Friday's game it shows it is available.

Does the DirecTV app let you stream ROOT? That's useful info if so! I'm used to streaming ESPN and FS1 and all of that through their independent apps.

Hope so. I'm gonna test it Friday and will report back.

If it does this is going to make cancelling my DTV service all the harder next month. Hopefully one of the streaming services carries it by then.
