With today's news being more sensationalism and less reporting, is it beyond reason to think that the Prius driver rescue may have been staged? With the amount of coverage they gave it, I'm starting to question the whole incident.

Not sure if serious.
I thought overall the news coverage was alright. This was a major event with some pretty legit flooding, deaths, and destruction. Only until later int he day wen everything settled down did they start grasping at straws.

Staged? Really? C'mon now. That statement is absolutely silly. People like to act like media is the bad guy, and while it's true the quality has eroded, that is not the case. Media is actually - on the local level- trying to look out for you and your interests. There is so much to report on, and so many things to pick from, we have to roll with the ones with the best content. This is a case where the reporter was in a place to get a great story at the right time.

sure am glad i gave up on the flight they put me on. it slipped from 330pm to 430pm to 730pm to now 1130pm. i bet it gets cancelled altogether.

What is going on over there? I'm just across spring cypress from you and saw the news chopper at around 5:30. Our neighborhood drained into the bayous fairly quickly.
Now I hear some streets in Longwood that had receeded are flooded again.

I live in Longwood. Most, if not all of the streets, in Longwood are flooded due to the flood levels along Little Cypress Creek. Last night at around midnight, water came up into our yard over the sidewalks and drained quickly. Water started rising around 2 pm today and has continued to rise over the afternoon and evening. Water is currently over our sidewalks, but it looks like its starting to recede slowly.
There was a high water rescue of a teenager on the golf course by Cypress Creek EMS this afternoon. Some people have said that their home has over 8 inches of water in it. A lot of others have water in their street and yard like me.

I think Houston GIMS might have 1' contours on their website, but I can't get the website to load because of a silverlight plugin.
You can pull the FEMA flood maps pretty easily.
I'm in Lakewood Forest, down Grant Rd from Longwood. Cypress Creek runs just to the the back of our neighborhood, and our street is closest to it near Grant. We had the same issue - water receded earlier, then started rising again about 3:00 and has been slowly rising ever since, although it seems to have slowed down some. The street in front of our house is full or water although it's up to the curb and no higher. I'm not worried but I sure hope it doesn't rain any more tomorrow.

I'm in Longwood too, I back up to the "spillway ditch" for that huge retention lake along Huffmeister. It is about 15 feet deep and maybe 50' wide and only has about one vertical foot left before it is out of its banks. Beaver splashed it's tail at me while I was out there looking a while ago. And I had the neighborhood bald eagle drying itself out in my pine tree earlier today.
Watching the upper end of our watershed tonight with a close eye....anymore rain and a lot more homes in the area will get water.
