He was having an MVP type season before he broke his ankle. We'll see if he can regain that form or close to it. Last year he was looking pretty good, even with the shoulder stuff... then the calf injury and he wasn't the same the rest of the year.

IMO the Cowboys need to get back to the type of stuff that worked his rookie year. Our O-line is run blocking well enough and Pollard and Zeke are running well enough to threaten the defense. Use that and get back to play action, boot legs, etc. Get Dak moving more frequently (instead of just dropping back), keep the defense guessing, and hit the open man. We are doing a lot of that with Rush... let's keep it going when Dak returns.

I totally agree that this is what we need to be doing, but what we need to do isn't always the way that's going to win when playing good defenses. We couldn't run the ball well against the Bucs, we needed Dak to throw and he was awful. I hope Dak comes back, lights it up and validates his 40 million dollars, but Dak is physically limited at this point in his career and that makes me incredibly nervous.

We ran the ball well against Tampa until McGovern went down. I think this OL can hold up and be the difference.

A crazy stat on Dak is he had the highest QBR in the league when blitzed. He torches blitzing defenses. But last year when our run game stagnated they just stopped blitzing. Dak isn't as good when they are dropping 7 or 8 in coverage and he has to fit the ball in very tight windows. The answer to that is to pound the rock and force the defense to come after you. I think this combined in improvements from our WRs as the season progresses is the formula to win even in the playoffs.

Yeah, I love what they did last night with Pollard and Zeke on the field together quite a bit and multiple TEs...sometimes 3 TEs!!!

I would love to see that type of a game plan with Dak running it. Looks like Gallup will be back next week so, with the way Brown is playing, I really like the way WR is coming around. It looks like we have legitimate depth at TE and two good RBs.

Jerry loves him some ginger-headed backup quarterbacks, man (Cooper Rush, Andy Dalton, Brandon Weeden, Jason Garrett)

Hard to not look at least pretty good against the Giants, IMO. That's not a good team, despite being 2-0.

Missing your starting QB and Left tackle on the road? K…

But after looking at your post history I don't know why I even respond. All you do is **** on the cowboys and coaches.

sorry, late to the party but hold on..... people go back and dig thru post history on a football board???? Got dang..some bored mfers in here!!!!!

Gigem is actually correct on several posters who post on cowboy threads. Lots of haters who deserve to be called out for their idiocy.

I hope nobody ever looks up my post history. Game day posts have plenty of stress fueled anger rants (usually at the refs). Offseason and between game posts are usually glass half full approaches.

It would be like looking through my music collection... 'no idea what the heck this guy likes and what he doesn't'.

How we feeling about today's game?

With our defense, I feel at least decent about every game.

One of my suppliers gave me 4 tickets to the game. Fun day with the family.

And to answer the above... I feel good about the game. Moore has called pretty good games last 2 weeks and Quinn is 100% dialed in. Our QB (backup) is also outplaying theirs.

If you were to draw up the absolute worst scheme/QB/OL combination to face the Cowboys' defense with, it would look like what Washington will trot out today.

They have a turnover prone QB who holds the ball too long, a bad OL, a passing game that relies on long developing downfield routes and they don't commit to the run.

We'll either have 5+ sacks again or their passing game will be so neutered by the desire to get the ball out quick that they won't stress our secondary at all.

I agree with this. Our Dline will feast or Wentz will have to throw the ball so fast it will lead to picks or a craptastic passing game.

In other words, Washington runs the Jimbo Fisher offensive scheme and Lawerence and Parsons are going to absolutely feast

I actually think Jimbo Fisher and Kyle Shanahan are pretty dang similar. Both are elite offensive minds, but lack a 10000 foot view to tell them that their offenses just don't work anymore.

I 1000% agree. Some times you can be too damn "smart" for your own good that you end up missing the big picture
Tksymm7

The difference is that Shanahan has an owner and a GM that can tell him what to do/have serious influence, whereas no one has that with Jimbo. He's the owner, GM, HC and Coordinator. Another reason why professional football is a better product imo.

The west coast offense works fine in the NFL when you have the players to run it. The issue in college is the lack of experience and relative lack of talent (only a small minority of players on any given roster end up being NFL starters) makes it unlikely you accumulate the necessary talent and experience to do it. The rules are also different and make RPOs/air raid concepts much easier to run successfully in college.

Shanahan is also an elite run schemer. He comes up with incredibly innovative ways to run the football. Jimbo doesn't do that. The 2019 NFC title game was a clinic in creatively running the football, it was beautiful to watch.

I actually think Jimbo is a combo of Jason Garrett and Jerry Jones. Predictable scheme, everything is about execution, and refuses to cede power which ultimately caps the team's ceiling.

Really interesting to see more and more guys use those futuristic helmets. Micah has one on this week. My guess is that they're supposed to help with concussions more, and after seeing Tua, they're okay sacrificing some looks for more protection.

I think the eagles are not a bad team but are pretty overrated. Media seems to be all aboard the "4-0!!!" Bandwagon but IMO any halfway decent team should be 4-0 with the first 4 games of their schedule.

Edit to add that the remainder of their schedule is absolute hot garbage. They should win at least 10 more at a minimum

Sure looking like Dallas killed the draft again. Smith, Williams, Bland, Ferguson, Harper all contributing.

The Eagles are a good team but can be shut down with a good front 7. Forcing Hurts to stay in the pocket and pass the ball is the key.

Eagles are good, but they haven't played a great defense yet. I would also like to see Jacksonville and the Eagles play in good weather, and not in driving rain. I'd bet Jacksonville slings it around more.
