We will need the Defense to help put points on the board.

Don't think Rush can go down and score.

Donovan Wilson had had two really good games in a row…

Coop suuuuuure looks calm running the offense, even under pressure…

They looked great tonight. Not sure you can say anything else. Zeke and Pollard both ran possessed. Cooper was really stinking good IMO. The defense is freaking real, and Getting Gallup back will be a pretty big addition.

Tyron Smith hurt
Michael Gallup hurt
Jayron Kearse hurt
Dak Prescott hurt
Conner McGovern hurt
Dalton Schultz hurt

Still 2-1 against a difficult opening slate.

Go Cowboys!

Hard to not look at least pretty good against the Giants, IMO. That's not a good team, despite being 2-0.

Keeping all of those D-lineman was another rare win for the front office. Rotation is so important especially if they all can do damage like ours does.

Missing your starting QB and Left tackle on the road? K…

But after looking at your post history I don't know why I even respond. All you do is **** on the cowboys and coaches.

LOL - It's an opinion; so you might want to chill a bit. Disagree all you want, but digging into my post history is a bit much. You also didn't dig very deep because I've been pretty supportive. Sure, I've been critical during horrid performances (just like many others here), which there have plenty of for what's going on 3 decades. This organization is great at starting off strong only to do nothing in the end (see last season and many before it). So, given this history, it's hard to get as "rah-rah" over early success, especially over a consistently atrocious team like the Giants. Sorry if that isn't to your liking.

Any win in the NFL with your backup QB is significant. That being said it can also be true that the Giants aren't good, which they aren't.

All we'll have to do to win the division is find a way to squeak by the Eagles. I think they're better than last year but still a bit overrated in terms of media hype

My biggest takeaways so far.

- the oline doesn't suck. Smith looks like a great pick.
- this defense could be special. Parsons is a potential DPOY and it's elevating the rest. Dono is a beast when he's not injured. I love that guy so much.
- Rush looks great. But my brain tells me that the coaching staff has worked harder the last two weeks. The play design has been great. Do this for Dak when he comes back!
-Kicker was a major question coming in. But Maher looks awesome.

So our big weaknesses entering the year were the OL, backup QB , kicker and the WR room. 3 out of 4 have been answered.

If you're not rah rah after losing as many critical players as the cowboys have the first 3 weeks, coming out 2-1, then you truly are a miserable fan. Not sure what else you could ask for.

I've watched them. They are very good and much improved over last year. The D is much souped-up, IMO. Hurts has improved a lot as well. He's become a much better passer and still can hurt teams with his legs. But, no team is unbeatable.

Cooper has looked great because they're protecting him, and the running game/defense has been good enough to win games playing that way. They're essentially using the same gameplan and concepts they used during most of Dak's rookie season before they realized how good he actually was.

They're not asking Rush to stand in the pocket and make multiple downfield reads, which is what you have to do to be consistently successful in the NFL. Everything is playaction with max protection, rollouts and quick outs/slants/comebacks. He's got one or two reads every play.

The reason so many people are acting like there's a controversy, and why even Cooper Rush laughs when anyone suggests that, is because most people don't really know what they're looking at when they watch a football game. Dak operates an exponentially more complex gameplan every week. With Dak both of them last two games are multi-score wins.

Why they gotta get all "Jimbo Fisher" with the offense when the Mike Leach - index card, generic one is working fine?

They're incredibly overrated.

The Eagles are doing with Hurts similar things to what Dallas is doing with Rush, they just have better skill position talent and Hurts is extremely mobile which adds another dimension. But fundamentally their passing scheme is designed to hide the fact that Hurts can't read an NFL defense.

Because at the NFL level, you have to have a complex passing scheme with a high level QB to consistently beat good teams. Anything even remotely predictable gets eaten up eventually at this level. That's not the case in college, where even the best defenses can be had by simple concepts when run by good players.

It's why the Eagles will not be successful in the playoffs against good defenses. Their offense is a flashy house of cards.

Cooper is a damn good backup quarterback. Cowboys have a pretty solid track record of backup quarterbacks.

Cooper Rush can win the game for you. That's all you can really ask from NFL backup quarterback. We've seen Rush win several times now. He's going to win it by playing smart and not trying to do too much. Part of that is also the coaching staff keeping him safe.

Prescott can win those games for you also. That's what they did his rookie season.

But Dak can win a game by throwing 400 yards and 4 touchdowns. Rush doesn't have that.

Jalen Hurts is closer to Rush than he is Prescott.

We need to give Tyler Smith a ton of props. He was put into one of the most difficult positions in professional sports (NFL Left Tackle) without any practice in camp and the preseason. He looks very good to start his career. We need to see him against some more stout pass rushes, but I am extremely encouraged.

In regards to Peters at Left Guard, I am not entirely sure what they are doing there. I definitely think he's an upgrade over Farniok, so hopefully he gets in better football shape and we can use him more and more. But when McGovern comes back (hopefully in the next two weeks or so) I would slot McGovern back in at Guard and have Peters as your back-up swing tackle. I believe McGovern is a very solid Guard and would rather have Peters as insurance. I also don't believe that 40-year old Jason Peters is better than 25-26 year old Conner McGovern.

Getting Gallup back completely healthy is huge because all we have right now is Lamb and Brown.

Any win in the NFL, and especially in the division, matters...no matter the quality of the opponent...

To see what you are made of in the playoffs, you have to get there first...

Sure, Dallas has had their playoff issues..well documented...painful to think about...since the last title in '95...

But the only way to have a chance to fix those is to keep going back, and that means you have to beat the bad teams too, and yeah, the NYG offensive line is atrocious...can't sugarcoat that...

With that said, atrocious teams find ways to win, even against the elites, and a loss to NY would be far more impactful on the NFC than say a Chief's loss to the Colts is in the AFC...

Dallas won with a near-elite defense last night, better than should be expected backup QB play, one "name" playmaker in the receiving corps, and then a bunch of basically nobody's catching passes...They are also winning with a rookie LT replacing a future HOF LT...and they did it on the road, against an undefeated opponent, and better yet, a division foe...

First of all, I still love Aikman... But one of my absolute favorite face palm comments so far this season has to be:

"You know, if you take away that 60+ yard run by Pollard and that 30+ yard run by Zeke, they Cowboys haven't done much in the running game".

ROFL... c'mon man!!!! *You know, take away 2 of those TDs and the Cowboys really haven't scored many points.* Be better than that Troy!

I agree with this. Keep in mind, on at least two of NY's scoring drives, they got bailed out by very questionable calls that gave them a first down. The biggest one that comes to mind is the illegal contact on a 3rd and 12. The WR ran right into the DB and he gets called for illegal contact.

On that note, what was with the refs missing two blatantly obvious PI calls and a defensive holding call that all wound up stopping Dallas drives?

That officiating crew really made some egregious calls/no-calls that really hurt Dallas, but those three in particular were blatantly obvious to everyone...

For sure.

And I just remembered the facemask by #1. Of course, it technically was a penalty as he did have the facemask for about .6 of a second, but to contrast that with the tackle of Brown in the endzone going without a call is maddening.

I agree 100%. But watching this makes me wonder if the staff puts too much on Dak. Why not script out a nice gameplan for 3 quarters and then let Dak run the 4th? If this offense is truly capable to pounding the rock and hitting easy playaction all game.. why not just do that until a defense stops you?

I tend to agree. Seems to me there could be a happy medium here. A game plan somewhere between the Cooper Rush gameplan and the fire drill that seems to be the norm with Dak.

It's a reasonable question, and if I had to guess I think KM/MM answer would be that they know eventually they'll need Dak operating at that kind of level to beat good teams late in the year and in the playoffs.

They already know they can pummel bad teams/division opponents doing whatever they want. When Dak is healthy they've been consistently beating the NFC East teams by multiple scores for years now. But the problems especially in 2019 and 2021 have come when good teams with talent on defense have employed complex cover 3 coverages along with an ability to stop the run consistently. When that happens, Dak and the offense have struggled to get the ball downfield. He's at the stage of his career now (late-20s/early-30s) where QBs either take their game to the next level or level out and just maintain "good not great" status. It's the difference between Aaron Rodgers and Matt Ryan. That "next level" is the ability to stand in the pocket, read umbrella zones and fit tough throws into small windows downfield to beat them when the defense knows you're throwing the ball. You have to be able to do that to win titles generally speaking because one constant in the postseason is that most teams that get there are going to be able to slow your running game and have defenses capable of eating up the "gimme" passing game.

To put it simply, I think we're at the stage of his career where they have to figure out if Dak can progress there with enough practice and reps or if he's a guy that will require an elite team everywhere else to win a title with. And so they're going to give him the chance to make that progression. Easy yards and points against the Redskins and Giants doesn't help us long term.

Great divisional road win last night. Agree with others that a lot of the younger guys are stepping up big time.

Any win we can get with all these injuries is gravy. Echo some others here - I hope the coaching staff is taking notes on how much smoother the offense has looked with Rush and leaning on Zeke and Pollard as a one two punch.

Guess the season ain't over like I thought it was

ETA - defense has looked great. Parsons and Diggs are AWESOME

I actually agree with what you are saying about Dak needing to take that next step and being at that point in his career where he needs to go from good to great. I unfortunately think that Dak has reached his peak as a player. He has average arm strength, average mobility, and isn't all that accurate at times. I believe Dak has "it" between the ears and as a leader. But I believe he is physically limited at this stage of his career.

This brings up the question/dilemma of do we need another, more talented QB? I would love to have one personally. Someone who has a great arm and a bit more upside to their game. But it is difficult to find when have a good roster that won't necessarily put you in top five pick territory. Just look at the 49ers as a good example.
