Canadians need to understand what actually happened with the U.S. trade fight.

Most countries facing Trump’s tariffs sat down early, negotiated quietly, and protected their market access. Mexico did this from day one. They absorbed the insults, made targeted concessions, kept… https://t.co/8CRAiA0Vh3
Tonight, Canada declined to finalize the trade deal under the terms agreed earlier this week.

Despite the U.S. offer to Canada to receive the best treatment of any major exporter to our market, new demands and walk backs of other commitments by Canada have upended the careful…

Canada Cannot Win a Trade War. It Needs a rational honest Strategy.

The prize in Canada’s confrontation with Washington is continued access to the world’s largest economy, sitting directly next door. The United States is a roughly $32 T market. China may be the second-largest… https://t.co/jyK5FUyn2M
In this statement Mark Carney lays out exactly why the deal with Canada collapsed: Canada’s economy only exists by stealing American jobs.

Carney is also right that “America has changed.” We no longer have a President that sells out American workers.
Good luck with China. 👋 https://t.co/bU1i2HlmkO

Maybe so, but taxing Americans for things like wood products is pure stupidity - we don't allow ourselves to cut down our own trees (think of the animals) so we buy from people who gladly sell it to us. So now we are increasing the price of everything made of wood because Trump is being Trump.

On March 1, 2025, Trump signed the executive order "Immediate Expansion of American Timber Production." It directed the Interior and Agriculture Departments (via BLM and U.S. Forest Service) to:
Issue updated guidance facilitating higher timber production, faster delivery, and reduced supply uncertainty (using tools like Good Neighbor Authority and stewardship contracting).
Streamline permitting and reduce regulatory burdens on timber production.
Set targets for timber offered for sale from federal lands.
Address factors limiting utilization of U.S. timber resources (the order noted the U.S. has capacity to supply most of its softwood needs but has relied on imports).

Unfortunately at some point, we will start having "political refugees" flooding our northern border. The only difference will be that those of us wanting to enforce immigration laws can no longer be labelled as racist because the "political refugees" will be white Canadians

this seems to be lost on most everyone because of TDS. I have yet to see anyone justify why we should be unfavorable to any country in tariffs. If Canada wants a no tariff agreement , then make it fully reciprocal- it is just common sense .FIDO*98* said:

China has been dumping into Canada for a while. Problem is that Canada is buying a crapload of Chinese inputs, but there's been minimal reciprocity. The only thing Canada has that China wants is oil and it's too damn expensive for them to get it from Canada vs Russia and the ME.
Canada’s European PM CARNEY never wanted a deal with President Trump & America. Prior the becoming PM, Carney was already strategizing with CHINA, and in 2026 declared publicly that Canada & CHINA was set up well for the New World Order 🤯 pic.twitter.com/iNWqSPVv2F
