Friend, as a former military officer, this whole thing is a non -issue and your party allegiance is trying to make this into the 1042 time "gotcha Trump" based on false pretenses.

I've occasionally been included on an email that I shouldn't be on - sometimes from suppliers that our company deals with who accidentally copy me on something internal.

You know what I do...every time? I send them an email alerting them to their mistake and I delete the email in question.

That is what should have happened here.

It's been stated countless times that the info wasn't classified. Why is this so hard to understand?

I'll answer that for you…it's Pete…and at the time he sent those messages, that information was considered secret. He can't go back and make it unclassified for that moment in time after the fact. Gabbard and Ratcliffe own the intel side of the house - anything they say is to save their own hide. Notice they'll say "you would have to ask DOD" a few times in testimony.

I would agree - this type of thing, as stupid as it was, is typically a nothing burger, provided the person at fault (Hegseth in this case) sees what they did wrong. Pete can't seem to do that for some reason. The best way to beat a dem - do something they can never do. Admit when you screw up and get back to work. This, traditionally, proves you can do the right thing when no one is looking.

Exactly, like pretty much all of us laughing about this, because presumably you aren't a sleaze-ball hack communist (note, I am not trying to damn you with faint praise, just stating the obvious about the idiot 'journalist.')

The same folks outraged about this for days now raised not a whimper of concern about Abbey Gate, other than to somehow exclaim it was Trump's fault somehow because he as well planned to surrender exactly as Biden did after wiping out air support during fighting season in Afghanistan and evacuating from downtown instead of Bagram. Nothing the poor military or democrat leadership could do about those plans for 8+ months.

What he does or says is irrelevant. This behavior with classified info occurs every single day in the fed government.

He should literally say "cry some more" every single time he is asked about it.

y'all are too fixated on what the dems and dem media are saying. It's like you're obsessed with what a tech football fan says….yes, screw what they say - I don't care - I really loathe that side….but demand excellence in every part of how we conduct business. Pete, was not excellent and he's denying it - even worse.

It's been fun conversation - I'm checking out. It will be interesting to see how this plays out for Hegseth. My prediction- it will be a strike against him and he continues on. If he can't admit fault - a major strike against him and he still moves on. Trump doesn't like distractions like this.

How does this compare to the 13 Marines killed in the Afghanistan Airport attack?

How does it compare to the Millions of criminal aliens intentionally delivered to the US by Xiden?

Yes let's hold him accountable for a stupid story.

Remember his predecessor went missing for a full MONTH in the hospital and nobody knew it - not even the president. But yet a signal chat is going to break down national security.

The standards are completely different here and are dumb.

Because what they say is patently false and greatly misleading. Then we get it thrown in our faces and have to resort with whataboutism to show they did the exact same thing, but typically with much more harsher and brutal results.

Border is secure - massive rapes, murders, assaults, drugs, ODs, human trafficking
Russia, Russia, Russia - nefarious govt interdiction
Jan 6 insurrection - some idiots on both sides again with nefarious govt decisions

And it goes on.

I called for Waltz's head early on but should have waited for the 48-72 hour rule. He took responsibility. We can argue whether times and stating known military assets that are in the area is classified or not classified, but we can agree this was an eff up and don't let it happen again. If any person would rationally look in the mirror and state that if they were in charge, there could be some firings, there certainly should be some checks and balances, but bad guys got smoked, planes landed safely, and yet again a big ass gotcha is really just another "**** happens when you are taking action" instead of your Sec of Defense going AWOL for nearly a week without telling anybody (another whataboutism).

You seem fixated on what he says publicly. So what the media is reporting. You have zero idea what he said behind closed doors and that is what matters.

Waltz made a mistake. This administration has learned from it, will correct the problem, and move on to continue doing the hard work they were overwhelmingly elected to do. Clean up the mess from decades of leftist, bureaucratic statist stink.

243 members of MS-13 were arrested this morning including the #3 in leadership. Trump delivering on his promises and making Americans safer should be the headline, and all this second guessing and back benching from folks that don't care about anything but hurting the individuals politically that are doing the good work is pathetic.

Driving back from West Texas to Bryan last night, I spent some time listening to Fox News and CNN. Fox seemed to be giving this story more air. Even my husband mentioned that he felt like that the media was moving on.

Are we still raging today?

All the acting out is hilarious. Complete nothingburger.
I finally asked my wife about it, who does not follow politics and this was the exchange:
Me: What do you know about the signal scandal?
Her: Not much, that some reporter was leaked war plans but I didn't think we are at war with anyone.
Me: The Houthi's.
Her: The who?
Me: Houthi pirates that have long attacked shipping vessels in the Red Sea.
Her: Ohhh, like the same pirates that hijacked a ship in that Tom Hanks movie.
Me: No that was Somalia.
Her: Well, are we still at war with the Houthi's?
Me: Nope, we pretty much squashed them but we'll see if they keep attacking ships.

That was it and she went about her day. Now if I posted our exchange about abortion or men in women's sports she has VERY strong opinions on that topic. But hey libs, keep up with the rage posting.

This story is so old. Let's drop it. If the info had gotten to the Houthis and they acted on it which caused American deaths then yes fire someone. Give a stern lecture and say don't let this happen again.Truth be known something similiar has probably happened in all administrations since the invention of the wireless. Get sloppy and eventually something bad will happen. Just think of the codebreakers in WWII and how Germany and Japan thought their codes would never be broken.

The party of personal responsibility can't just fess up. Only honest response was Waltz not blaming a staffer.

It was sloppy. They lied about it to Congress and us and are sticking with the normal response of blaming everyone else.

At least Trump didn't post spy satellite photos this time, so one lesson learned I guess.

I think it's very unlikely that Walz or any other top advisor was intentionally leaking info to Goldberg.

I think it's much more likely that whomever shared a contact with Goldberg's number attached to the name of a senior advisor did have intent to leak information and damage the administration.

I'm still waiting for more information about how Goldberg's number was attached to an administration official's name and who shared that contact with Walz. And whether that was accidental, or intentional.
