What are the odds that they never find this jet?

So was there another jet accompanying the one that's mssing? And it returned to base safely?

Quote:

One of the most sophisticated and expensive fighter jets in the world is missing somewhere in South Carolina after a pilot was forced to eject for an unknown reason while leaving his F-35 with stealth capabilities flying in a 'zombie state.'
The incident occurred over North Charleston around 2pm Sunday as two jets, worth around $100 million each, were flying side-by-side.
The pilot ejected and parachuted safely into a residential area. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was in stable condition, said Maj. Melanie Salinas. The pilot's name has not been released.

Reading between the lines, I think they had a mid-air collision. The one who ejected thought the plane was going to crash so punched out.

It's a **** show, but what part of our military isn't under Milley?
This would certainly explain why the 2nd plane didn't pursue/escort the 1st plane. It probably had to hobble back to base.

Another question... When Maverick ejected, Goose did too. Why are we hearing about only 1 pilot with the F-35? Does a F-35 pilot not have a wingman?
Single seater.

Downed planes are usually not hard to find as they are marked by smoking holes in the ground. The wingman cares more about the pilot and will likely circle that to make sure they know he is okay and where he ends up.

Single-man jet.

He had a wingman, but reading between the lines, that jet may have been damaged in a collision as well.

First priority for the wingman if one ejects in a situation like this would be to orbit and maintain visual on downed crew, not follow the jet to impact.
Ty. Good to know.

There is no question that he meant the Chinese captured the drone. Your confusion is that he never implied it was done with an American aircraft and that similar technology is real and not only found in movies.

The Daily Mail article posted above reports the pilot had the jet in auto-pilot when they ejected, and that for unknown reasons, the F-35's transponder wasn't working at that time. The article also reports there was another plane flying next to it at the time. The article says an F-35 has a range of up to 1,200 miles but it's unclear how much fuel was in the jet at the time that it went missing.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12530467/Mystery-deepens-missing-100m-stealth-fighter-officials-reveal-F-35-carried-flying-autopilot-zombie-mode-pilot-ejected-South-Carolina-no-evidence-jet-crashed.html

Here are my questions:

1) How and why did the transponder not work
2) Why didn't the other pilot follow the jet until it crashed, or just shoot it down to prevent it from crashing in a public place
3) Since another jet was flying along side the jet whose pilot ejected, using the fuel logs and flight info we should be able to calculate how far the jet could fly before running out of fuel and crashing.

Something's not right in this whole equation.
And scramble other jets when the partner is low on fuel to continue observations? So 15 hours and the military leaders are still...

Name one thing that is going well under him under Biden.

Afghanistan withdrawal
Multiple scandals and general firings at places like our nuclear missile bases up in Mindot.
Internal assessments showing our force readiness worst in decades
Losing war games to other countries
Poor recruiting to the point they are lowering standards
Generals coming out as ******, having puppy fetishes

Now losing a state of the art F-35 in broad daylight over a populated area.

If you think anything is going the right direction with our military, you probably have a Ukraine profile pic on Facebook and X too.

A Marine Corps F-35B pilot safely ejected from his stealth fighter jet this afternoon next to Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina. Details are few as of now, but base PA has confirmed the incident.

Radio chatter said the pilot ejected at just a few thousand feet above the ground, with last radar contact a few miles northeast of Lake Moultrie. The pilot made it out safely, and then showed up a few miles away in a backyard of a residential neighborhood in North Charleston. The weather was horrible at the time of the accident, but unclear if that played any part.

Someone has been very confused by Top Gun all these years. "Never leave your wing man " refers to another plane, not the guy flying in the jet with you.

/Full tinfoil hat mode/

These things are all pretty much computer controlled anyway right? What are the chances that we can actually remote pilot one and this was just a ploy for a F35 to officially disappear from the record books?

/tinfoil hat off and turned in to a statue at freebirds/
Of course I would imagine we could make an F35 disappear much less publicly than this.

It is really crazy that we can lose a plane over the east coast of the US this easily. I would have 100% assumed that something would have been in place that could help us track it all the way to the scene of the crash...

Hi

Actually just landed and been pit of touch.

I am implying that another country (specifically China, as the Chinese are from there = Pink Panther joke) could have taken the jet via a similar capture as posted with photo.

I mean, our military couldn't track a ball on for crying out loud and I am sure our resident crazies (currently in charge around the Potomac) would see no harm in our great nation passing on a "little old asset".

Anyway, the in flight capture is real technology and can be done. I was not implying the US military took it. However, our land has gone so crazy one cannot be too sure!

Mid-flight, they're chasing Jester and Goose says 'you're flying to close to the hard deck again, Im outta here' and just ejects.

"Crap! Goose left his wingman again."

I got confined to base for a weekend one time because someone in my company misplaced their nods, finally found them after a few hours of searching and everyone having to push.

I hope whoever lost a jet pushes until their arms break.

Maybe biden talked xi into letting it cross over china like he let the chinese spy balloon cross the US. Probably agreed to put lens caps on all the cameras. No word if we are allowed to buy land in china.

Dear Penthouse Forum,

I never thought it would happen to me, but there I was, standing at the kit hen sink in a cotton sundress, bare feet, with my down hair in waves, when in my doorway appeared a handsome fighter pilot claiming he had ejected from his plane and needed assistance...

Goose was a RIO.

A wingman is in a separate plane that is flying on your wing. Typically the plane referenced as the wingman is 2nd in command, but not always. Hence "wingman". To use your Top Gun reference, go to the end where Maverick and Ice are talking on the Enterprise after shooting the Migs down - Ice tells Mav he can be his wingman anytime, and then Maverick response with "bull**** - you can be mine"
