Can't be stressed enough how awesome electric companies are when they mobilize like this. I was living in Tulsa in 2007 when an ice storm took down all the power lines in our part of town and we were without power for 11 days in freezing temps of January. We had a power crew from Alabama get our neighborhood back up and running. I thanked those guys profusely when they got us back up and running.Zemira said:

Yep. We lived a couple of miles from the Tulsa fairgrounds and they staged all those power crews there. The guys slept on cots in the arenas at the fairgrounds for the several weeks they were in Tulsa.Zemira said:
The husband of a high school friend works for Centerpoint. She says he works such long hours when a natural disaster happens and he is gone for weeks at a time. I think during Ike and Harvey he got 3-4 hours of sleep most nights. The crews are awesome and under appreciated as a whole.
They get my respect because I could never do that kind of work much less get bye on so little sleep.
