I watched the pilot (which premieres tonight) over the weekend and while the potential is there for a great show, I wasn't quite blown away given all the hype surrounding this thing. It takes itself a bit too seriously, the acting is heavy-handed, and I'm still somewhat confused about certain characters' powers. Then again, this was just the pilot and I'm sure it'll [hopefully] find its rythm soon. As of now, though, I'm on board. Here's to hoping they quit trying to be the next "Lost" and instead just aim for a little more substance and originality...





HEROES airs Mondays at 9/8c on NBC.

Thus far there seems to be a lot of potential with this show... but I agree it will take some time to develop if they are going to do it right.... I guess the trick will be not to be too slow that everyone loses interest.

It'll get another shot (thanks, in no small part to Ali Larter's ass), but if it doesn't improve quickly we won't be seeing a season 2. Hell, we may not be seeing a complete season 1.

If you're going to hype things up this much, you'd better have at least a little payoff in the Pilot.

I want it to be real good, and it could be...

but my honest thought is that the shark has been jumped with one episode. It will be way too easy to let the show drift into drivel once the "powers" start getting used to fight "evil".

I enjoyed it. In a time where every network is looking for the next "Lost", this show comes closest to capturing the feel of that show.

The difference is "Lost" started off with a bang (or crash) and then slowed down and went backwards with it's flashbacks. This one looks to start off slower and build to something.

Personally, I'm glad that it's taking itself seriously. The show gets lightned up thanks to Hiro (the Japanese guy). His scenes were hilarious.

And I can't figure out what power Ali Larter (and her nice ass) has, but DAMN!

the end scene was perhaps the poorest excuse of CGI/special effects i've seen in the last 5 years. if you're going to have 60 minutes of the show devoted to this dude and his brother, and you're going to throw a twist in like that, at least make it look quasi-realistic. i won't say more than that in case you haven't watched it.

that being said, i'll give it another shot.

In the show's defense, the pilot is 2 hours long, so we've only seen half of it.

It reminds me of a combination of X-Men and M. Night's "Unbreakable". Overall I thought it could be a good series.

I think Ali lartner's power is something on par with the Hulk. At least that was the impression I got from her with the loan sharks and her with the school headmaster.

I thought it was great! I actually like the pacing of the show. Plus I also think it's ambitious to introduce more characters at once. That is another way they are like Lost: Sheer number of characters involved.

4400 with a bigger budget and slower start.

I like this kind of stuff, so of course I will watch it unless it is REALLY bad.

Japanese guy was pretty funny.

I have mixed responses. It started out a bit slow, and yes, the acting is a bit stilted.

What I did like is the fact that the writers/producers are trying to be at least a bit creative.

The blond looks like she may have multiple personality disorder, and her alter-ego is the one with the powers--clever idea.

The brother who flies was an interestin surprise, and the subtitled Jap parts were entertaining.

All in all, this could be good, if they keep up the pace and creativity, or it could degenerate into a crappy mix of X-Men, X-Files, and GenX.

We shall see....

who is the genious that decided to put it on opposite Monday Night Football.

I like the show, but have to Tivo it and watch it at 11:00pm after the game. The wife watches it alone in our bedroom and is usually sleeping when I get around to watching it.

I'm not buying the whole monday night football thing.

Although I watch football from 9:00 am on sat with gamday to almost midnight. So that's about 15 hours of college football. Plus a game on Sunday so when Monday comes around with a crappy game like we had tonight I'm footballed out and all about Prison Break and Heroes.
