I have no background on this iteration of the characters, and have barely seen any of the DC stuff, but this looks like it could be pretty interesting.

it seems just extremely loosely connected to the Superman movie that came out last year in that there is an advertised cameo by Nathan Fillion's Lantern Guy Gardner. But catching up on that character can be achieved in about 5 minutes of YouTube clips.

If true it's pretty on character for Damon Lindelof. He did the same thing with Don Johnson's character in Watchmen.

Yeah, we'll see how it plays out. It could make for an interesting element that propels the plot in a compelling way. Or it might be just a cheap storytelling device they use as a crutch and it really stinks that we lose Hal Jordan from this new DCU before we've even gotten to enjoy him.

Having not seen any of the DC movies I really liked the Pilot. The double timelines hooked me. Should I go watch the GL movie to get some background?

Does the latest Superman movie take place present day?

I'm try to reconcile Hal stating he is the first human GL and Guy Gardner being a GL.


I loved this portrayal of Hal. The cocky test pilot and not the middle of the pack, boy scout I've seen too often.

Been eagerly anticipating this show since it was cast, and it did not disappoint.

Really like Hal Jordan's refusal to use the ring except as a harmless convenience or when he really needs it; the restraint to use it to start blasting people or be an "ends justifies the means" kind of guy is very refreshing for a superhero.

I loved that Stewart is so disciplined and restrained but when that frustration boils over, he's 100% down for banging the chick in the bar he just met. That sort of flawed humanity makes him a lot more endearing than just the "perfect solider" look he cultivates through the first 30 minutes of the show. Loved Jordan's reaction when he found out Stewart had hooked it up.

It really makes you wonder how good DC would be looking right now if the release schedule had avoided "Creature Commandos" and "Supergirl" altogether and been a fun, if somewhat flawed Superman movie in 2025 that made $350m, followed up by this show second.

From what I gather, I don't see any need for any prerequisite watching of anything. The first episode threw in a lot of convenient exposition to cover background.

I'm assuming you don't need to watch anything. Guy Gardner was in the trailers, so I guess you could say Superman just to know who he is, but I bet it's irrelevant to the series and he's only in it because it's a Green Lantern show. Superman was more important to what was going on in Peacemaker than this seems to be.

Really enjoyed the interrogation scene when Jordan proves the guy is an alien because he doesn't know any random normal trivia that most people do.

If you've read Stephen King's Dark Tower series, it echoes of the book "The Wastelands" where they play the contest of riddles against the insane AI and beat it with the stupid joke riddles from Earth.
