Jack White in a venue with a capacity of 600. Still can't believe I got in. What an epic show.

Iron Maiden at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte:
0. Venue was fine, nothing to complain about or praise, really.
1. The Hu (Mongolian metal band) opened - three guitars, two horsehead fiddles, two drummers, and a lead singer who occasionally broke out a flute or a mouth harp. Good musicians and they were definitely into it, but the vocals seemed tuned down a little bit and were hard to make out (though that could've been due to the fact that they were in Mongolian). Played for ~45 minutes; some of their songs sounded a little samey (again probably the language barrier), but they were a good opening act, and I appreciated their attempts to say Charlotte.
2. Maiden was Maiden, which equals greatness. Bruce's vocals were largely on point and he's a ball of energy bouncing around the stage. Janick Gers was his usual manic self as well, and watching Steve Harris gallop through songs on his bass is always a treat. Theatrics were a bit toned down from the Legacy of the Beast tour in 2022; I only saw giant Eddie come out a couple of times, once to have a gunfight with Bruce, and Bruce didn't break out the hand flamethrowers this time around. Overall great show - definitely not as heavy on the hits as Legacy of the Beast, but it was nice to hear Death of the Celts and Alexander the Great live. Really would've liked to hear Paschendale, but that's probably a pipe dream.

Glad to hear Maiden is still rockin despite the drummer's stroke.

They only came to Ft Worth this round in Texas so I missed them but saw this tour way back during Power Trip last year.

Fun Claude! Fact: last year while at my company's annual meetings in Florida, a colleague and I ditched a team dinner to drive out to Nicko McBrain's barbecue restaurant in Coconut Grove. It was pretty good, but he wasn't there.

They are completely out of band names.

My Chemical Romance
Baby Metal
Bowling For Soup
Panic at the Disco

These are all terrible band names yet better than what you just mentioned.

Tyler Childers coming to The Woodlands next June. Sure would be nice if TicketMaster would at least show the pricing tiers leading up to the sales. My daughter wants to go so I am going to be the ticket buyer but it would be nice to know beforehand what prices will be so I can coordinate with her friends parents and figure out what everyone is comfortable spending.

I'll probably use the first day of presale just to find out pricing and buy one of the later days in the week.

Prices can and will change literally while you are still in the waiting room. Nearly everything is demand-based now. Posting prices beforehand only leads to customers questioning why the prices they saw weren't the prices that were originally posted (and removes the sense of urgency in the buying process).

If there is strong demand, the first day of the presale will be the cheapest price.

Just got a text message sent by Billy Strings' team that he's playing at ACL Moody Theater on Thursday. Clicked the link and no tickets were available. Apparently it's the 50th anniversary celebration of ACL Live also featuring Leon Bridges, Gary Clark Jr, Lyle Lovett, and many others.

Seems like a strange thing to be notified about just 3 days before the event. I checked for tickets on AXS and there are resales available ranging from $225-$1,000 so looks like I'll have to pass on that unfortunately.

Sammy Hagar doing his VH set in Vegas April 30- May 17. Luckily there is a pediatric conference that is there at the same time!

"Instead of traveling all day on tour when there's no time to rehearse and make changes," Hagar added. "I plan on digging deeper into the Van Halen catalog, and my solo career, Montrose and Chickenfoot, as well. The fans are in for a lot of surprises."

Wohoo!

Devin Townsend announces North American tour for 2025 with guests Tesseract

That's a heck of a twin bill. Only Texas stop is in Dallas.

For those wondering, the Childers tickets in the Woodlands:

Without fees => With Fees

Halfway back in the seats
$159.50 = $197.93

Rear section of the seats
$129.50 = $164.41

Lawn
$59.50 = $86.01

I didn't pull the trigger. They were going pretty fast. 5000+ in the queue when I joined. I suspect this will be a lawn show for me but I'll wait until at least tomorrow to pull the trigger.

Also, despite what it says I don't think Chrome has ever successfully refreshed me from waiting room to the queue. I always have to refresh manually to get it to switch.

Oh hells yeah, my best friend lives in Fort Collins and is a Dev nutcase (and huge Tesseract fan), I'll be joining him for Denver show almost certainly. That is going to be an incredible show, guaranteed!

this just made my day! Didn't even have to click the link to see if he stops in Denver.

Ogden show a few days before my bday.

Do you know artist presale code?

Nevermind found it.. PowerNerd

Got my ticket. Last time he headlined here at oriental theater, I didn't hear about it soon enough and he sold out. Not letting that happen again!

Ogden is only 550 people

Echoes; Curious your thoughts on new album?

I'm really digging glacier, falling apart, jainism, ubelia. Gratitude is a great feel good song.

I don't think it's quite as strong as lightwork though.. and that had the extra 'demo' album, I wish this did too.

Awesome man, thanks for the heads up on the tix for the Ogden, assume it's all GA? Never been there so no idea.

I'm digging PowerNerd, it's a solid album for sure, with a lot of personal stuff from Devy. Favorites so far are Falling Apart, Gratitude (like you say, such a feel good tune), Jainism, and Glacier. Don't really care for Knuckledragger or Ruby Quaker, though you have to kind of just laugh at Dev's willingness to write completely silly stuff.

I need to go re-listen to Lightwork, got the record on preorder, and it kind of fell out of rotation after a while. Can't wait to see him on this tour though!

My brother loves coffee and is not a metalhead, but I've talked to him about DT. I totally want to play ruby quaker, and would probably bust out laughing when that blast beat bit comes in lol.

Only Devy can get away with such nonsense.

To me, tracks 1-4 of lightwork really scratch my itch of hearing what he can do in his most accessible form. Typical song lengths, verse, chorus, bridge repeat. For a while I thought maybe that wasn't in his blood, but clearly, this guy can really do anything.

Factions is one my favorite balls out heavy songs he's done in a while too. Jesus, when it breaks into that solo, it's so much better than most metal I hear on liquid metal today, and sober is about my top 3 super chill songs of his.

not sure if sick new world was mentioned on here, but it appears last friday they canceled it.

https://www.theprp.com/2024/12/01/news/report-2025-sick-new-world-cancelation-was-a-result-of-overbooking-bands-sluggish-ticket-sales/

some quick math

Apparently LP and Metallica both had $5m guarantees.

20,000 person venue.
GA was $400, VIP was $650.

let call the average price $600?
20000*600 = $12m - $10m for 2 bands.. that don't leave much left over! All the other bands, the cost of production, venue rental, etc.

AC/DC doing a short tour in the Spring. Only date in Texas is Arlington on a Monday night.

Luckily I was already planning a late April Las Vegas medical education conference to coincide with Sammy Hagar being there. Saturday April 26th in Vegas should be fun for AC/DC+ The Pretty Reckless!

Tickets go on sale Friday..

Zach Bryan last night in Phoenix, second of two nights at a local arena in Glendale. He put on an amazing show, and the audience knew and sang along with just about every song. He seems genuine, and appeals emotionally to his fans more than many current country stars.

Ended the set with with an extended "Revival" and a Santa Claus up on stage tossing presents out to the crowd. Fun show!

Has anyone watched the Yacht Rock documentary on Max? As a kid who grew up in the late 70s and early 80s reading liner notes while listening to this music, it was a real treat.
