Saw U2 at The Sphere on Saturday. I was not aware Mullins was out but his backup was badass.

And I simply can't believe how much of a badass The Edge is. He's inhuman. What was interesting is how much he sang with Bono. He was very involved on several songs.

Incredible experience.
Good to hear. Going on Wednesday.

NFR is a great time to be in Vegas.

If I wanted to buy tix to one of the U2 shows at the Sphere, what would be the best seating areas to get the full view - stage and entire sphere screen/show?

I haven't been but read that the back section of the 100s is under an overhang and can't see the full screen.

We were in 300. I would go with 300 or 400. Correct on the overhang with 100.

VIP (floor standing in front of stage), 100 and 200 would be no gos for me. I don't understand the VIP people wanting to stand down on floor whole time unless they just didnt' care about the visuals so maybe they didn't. You would break your neck in VIP trying to look up at visuals and it would be a strain to do it in 100 and maybe 200.

Other tips: they open the doors 1.5 hours before show starts. You don't need to be there that early unless you just want to try and beat the line to merch or alcohol. On that, if you do get in early go up to 300 Merch booth which will be less crowded than the one at main entrance.

Yeah.

And U2 was playing Kyle Field in the 80's.

And again at a big festival at Kyle in the 2010's, along with Beyonc and Lady Gaga and a bunch of other people.

I didn't think there was any shot until I saw the other tour dates. If he's playing Iowa State's football stadium (and he is), he could play Kyle!

To be fair we did get Lady Gaga at Reed Arena, she just replaced Beyonce with Lee Greenwood

Good music? Yes. Good show? Eh.

I saw George a couple times in San Antonio in high school at the original George Strait festivals. Like most Texans, grew up on his music and love it.

Christ Stapleton I saw at the rodeo last year. Musically he checks a lot of boxes and he is talented as hell, but just never clicked with me.

That being said, they both come out and stand there and sing. That's it. No banter. No movement. No show at all, just the music.

I've seen George somewhere around 8 times between HLSR and that music festival tour he was doing back in the 2000s. I said I wouldn't pay to see him again because the shows are always meh but a concert at Kyle could convince otherwise.

Just got back from the Besame Mucho Fest at Dodger Stadium and U2 UV. Besame is an all spanish music fest, but what I like is reggeaton and all that trash is nowhere to be seen and they book Rock/Pop/Classics(rancheras, banda). I spent all day at rock stage. They have one in Austin next march. A GA for this 1 day fest is more than a 3 day for ACL lol, but very worth it as many of these bands don't really do proper tour dates in the US.

U2 LV. Believe the hype. I was on the floor and felt much closer to the whole thing. I dislike Vegas and everything around the city but I will definitely come back if they book bands I like at that venue.

Leppard and Journey announced today. Not too fond of the stadiums anymore. Would rather pay more for a smaller venue.

Saw U2 at the Sphere last night and had GA floor tickets.

Bono's voice is pretty rough these days, but he's still a great showman, the rest of the band still brings it, and the sound in that place is incredible.

It's gotta be a Top 5 all time show from me.

We are planning on the August 5th show in Boston. Never seen Heart or Journey and never been to Boston so can check off several bucket list items in one long weekend. Plus get out of Texas in August.

Hit Fenway as well if the BoSox are in town.

Edit: actually scratch that. I assume Fenway is where the show is and it's a road trip for the team. I'm dumb.

Just saw them last night. Was a great show. Opener was very boring. Took like 3 requests for the encore which was cool...poster did sell out at the end (at least at the main booth and outside truck) so if you want one buy it when you go in, but its def not hard to get one

QOTSA was great as always in Houston. For the encore they said they were going to play a couple set songs then a few requests. They played 4 songs in the encore but never really asked for requests so not sure any of them were.

Saw my second show at The Sphere. Appreciate it even more. The sound is so clear and as I said before no muddied bass sound. And what's crazy is no stack of amps or lighting rigs up top or behind the stage. The sound is in the walls and totally immersive. There will be artists that get swallowed up by the spectacle but U2 and their stage manager from the beginning Willie Williams really utilized all that the venue had to offer.

Sometimes I feel like a dancin' chicken.

You know what I always wondered?

Why didn't that chicken just hop off the stage?

Damn this band escalated quickly..

Denver 2023 show announced earlier this year at the ogden, capacity 1500. Within a few days/week, it was rescheduled due to demand to mission ballroom capacity ~4000.

Now 3 months after that 9/2023 show, they announce this red rocks show, capacity 10k!

I was glad to see Spiritualized again, but they were better/livelier 15ish years ago at the Meridian (RIP).

Houston got 2 less songs than Austin and likely less time but was still a great set. QOTSA are still doing their thing well 25 years into their career which is impressive.

Great show though it could have been a few songs longer. They don't vary too much live from their studio recordings but are super tight live especially when considering the difficulty level of some of their songs . A good bit of interaction with the audience and played something from every album if I remember right. Their drummer is amazing, and Josh Homme is simply a legend at this point that has seemed to overcome his past troubles.

*Meant to add they were pretty damn loud, but the sound/mix was still great i.e. not just a big wash of sound. Glad I brought earplugs.
