Very fun show last night seeing The Dip at White Oak Music Hall.
The opener Parlor Greens was good too in the couple songs I caught of theirs.

A benefit of being alone is being able to stand exactly where you want to see the show from.

Add me to the list that goes solo all the time.

In college I went with friends, then wife and kids and life comes around and I go solo to most concerts, but my 13 yr old son is now becoming my concert buddy so that's changing.

Hell, a year and a half ago I flew to Chicago for Dead & Co at Wrigley Field back to back solo. It was awesome!

What are this thread/board's thoughts on going to see a concert alone? A lot of the music I am into is not the same as most of my friends.

I went a year or so ago to see The California Honeydrops live in Houston at a small venue and while the show was incredible, it was pretty awkward to stand alone through breaks, etc.

I've done it countless times. I'm not going to miss a show I want to see just because no one else can go with me.
Did it last night ... i dont mind it whatsoever. If Covid taught me anything, if there's a show i want to go see, I'm not gonna let it go by.

Ill be doing the same next week in San Diego for Deftones while my wife does whatever she wants.

Count me as someone who loves seeing a show by myself as well. Get to sit wherever you want and don't have to compromise on any of the details. Flew to NY a few weeks ago and saw Vampire Weekend by myself and it was perfect.

And if it's a band you really love, you don't have to worry that the person you are with is having a good time or just attending with you to be nice!

I may be going solo to see Intervals and VOLA in Houston next year. Really hopeful I can make it to that one.

Saw metallica by myself in Arlington last year, only downside was not having anyone to hold my spot when I had to take a piss. Other than that it was great.

Going to another show by myself in a couple weeks.

This is a good point. I usually avoid GA because of this if I am going by myself.

Alright, there's a Denver stop.
ticket purchased.

But they are opening? That kinda sucks.

My current list;
10/27 Opeth solo
12/13 Metallica helping hands show in LA; with my buddy
3/3 Apocalyptica plays Metallica; with a buddy
3/11 Vola solo
5/2 Awolnation with the family
6/27 and 6/29 Metallica with the family

A little Metallica heavy at the moment.

Trying to convince my wife (who is a big Tool fan) that this is a good use of funds for our anniversary which falls around that time of year. Who cares if our son has to put a class or two on hold next semester for us to go, right?

Not entirely sure I'm hitting he right arguments...

Stafford Opera House - '94(?) - Fishbone opened for Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Or the other way around. Pretty fuzzy on the detail but great show! Good to see them still out there.

Yeah, but I like Intervals, so I'm cool with it. Their new album is great.

Saw Billy Joel and Sting last night. It was AWESOME!!!

I know I am lame but this was a bucket list item for me because I have loved Billy Joel my whole life and have never had the chance to see him live. I am a student of his music and was so emotionally overcome to see live what I have listened to on repeat for 40 years.

He was awesome, his voice was great and energy and humor great. His banter was good and everyone was doing world series score updates throughout the show. He did a six song encore after closing with piano man to run through some greatest hits.

Sting came out to sing Big Man in Mulberry Street and completely rocked it with the brass section screaming.

His band is phenomenally talented and brought the house down many times. Overall just wonderful and I am so glad we went.

I've seen Billy Joel twice in the past few years and he delivers every time, and the band is phenomenal. I even remember Mark Rivera, the sax player, from his time with Foreigner way back when, and he's still got it as well.

Still one of my favorite concerts live was Billy Joel Elton John Face to Face tour

Almost pulled trigger last night to drive to SA but worked a sporting event instead

I saw Billy in 1987 and Sting in 1988, both at the SunDome in Tampa.
Great year or so for concerts looking back. Dec 1987 U2 at Tampa Stadium, Pink Floyd Oct 1987, Bryan Adams May 1987 in Lakeland (he filmed a video at that concert), and I think QuarterFlash opened for him. So not a bad 12 months.

Springsteen is the one I missed though, that will always bother me.

Ghost kicking off another world tour next year. Pretty good coverage in the US.
First time playing the Garden. They've come along way from opening for Opeth and Avenged Sevenfold, to their own club/theater headline shows just a bit over 10 years ago.

No opener announced yet.

Oh hells yeah! Along with IDLES, my favorite band right now. I was pissed I missed them opening for Arctic Monkeys last year. Can't wait to see them on a headlining date.

Absolutely. Saw them at White Oak a couple months ago. Best live band around right now for my money. Amazing show!

Musically their last album "Crawler" was my entry point.

IDLES is great live. They've evolved a lot over the past few records, and even though their sets are more focused on the newer music they still bring a lot of old school punk energy to it live.

I saw a good one tonight:

some last minute tiny venue acoustic shows from Kevin Martin of Candlebox, both in TX.
Plus a motley crue tribute to follow lol.
Man ol' Kevin has no shame!

I would totally go to one of these if I lived nearby!

Primus' drummer, Tim Alexander, just quit the band and Danny Carey is officially filling in for him at this now as well.

Idles are good. Much bigger in the UK. You will either love them or hate them, very distinct style. Lead singer is an absolute unit. Interesting background.

I discovered Fontaines DC about four years back after they released a Hero's Death listening to them on the radio on a work trip to Ireland. Thought they became a great band after they release Skinty Fia. And then came Romance which I had little expectation for and blew me away. I said pretty quickly that this will be the album that will blow them up. They're on a huge upward trajectory.

Looking at going to Providence Rhode Island for Deervana on NYE. Deer Tick plays nirvana unplugged in its entirety and a deer tick set.

My first date with my wife was a deer tick NYE show in 2012 so this would be pretty special. Not sure if I will be able to work out the logistics.
