That should be a blast. Lot of great musicians on that list. Yesterday was my 1st time seeing Lukas and I was blown away. He's playing a free show in Waco in April but too far of a drive for me on that weekend.
Oh wow I may have to hit up that Waco show as Luck Reunion is just Lukas solo without his band. I assume I'll at least get to see him on the main stage playing with his pops and brother Particle Kid.

I sure am glad NMAlamoAggie mentioned this. Had no idea about it and it's not only Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real but also Band of Horses. Their first album is one of my all time favorites.

Then Saturday is Big Boi from Outkast, Z-Trip, and Arrested Development. I love all three.

Sunday closes with Dwight Yoakam. That's a lot of great artists for FREE.

That's a damn good lineup for a free concert. Band of Horses first two albums I wore out.

And this bad boy was one of the first CDs I owned. Saw them play a show in Fort Worth about 6-7 years ago and it was a blast.

Wife is listening to Taylor right now... Spotify.

However, the real rubber will hit the road at 8P this evening for her first ever Blue Oyster Cult show.

I did promise her I'll sit through a viewing of the ERAS movie.

Blue Oyster Cult is always fun live. I've seen them live in the 80's, 90's, 00's, 10's, and 20's now. Wish I'd seen them in the 70's as well. I've seen them in big arenas, local nightclubs, casinos and the like. They're just cool.

This could get me canceled but I bought a M&G vip for Marilyn Manson. Opening for 5FDP but I will leave after his set.

Won't get you canceled but I'd watch your cornhole around Brian Warner or you may get violated.

not really even close imo. Purple is too artsy, alt hippyish rock for me which was even more so ok album 3. Don't get me wrong love ILS, but big empty with was written a year before rest of album and sounds like a core left over to me.
core is dark, gloomy grunge fire for 54 minutes. It sounds better and looks better. Raw and uninfluenced by fame.

I don't even consider that to be a venue for Houston. There are quite a few shows there every year that I would go see if they weren't in The Woodlands. Not to mention Houston isn't really a city that should have outdoor venues in the first place.

Yeah. The high will be in the 70's today and this weekend.

Terrible.

Ugh. Two back to back shows I want to see with STP/Live and then Sammy Hagar the next day. That's gonna suck driving up there, but I'll be there both nights

Or just stay in one of the many hotels in the Woodlands for a night or two.

Interesting inference.. I mentioned a few songs, but specifically said core is fire for 54 minutes....

But you're right, outside of what made the radio off purple (which I'll give it to em, 5 songs is no sophomore slump), the remaining songs didn't have much impact on me, save for kitchenwares, I do really like that song.

But piece of pie, no memory into sin, where the river goes??

those non radio songs are up just as good as their #1 hits.
Then throw in dead/bloated, plush, crackerman, wicked garden, creep, sex type.. well that's the rest of the album and all together they are fire! yeh there's the throwaway track wet my bed..

And to reiterate, outside of the songs, I think it SOUNDS way better. Fits in way better with the 91-94 era. Purple (and the next one even more so) started to sound more throwback. A little softer around the edges, less heavy. More beatles and alt, even art rock.

I listen to core front to back probably once a year.

I love both, but Purple is the best representation of their overall sound. Core is stacked with hits and is up there with any other debut from the era. Pretty silly how they got labeled as a rip off band back then because most of their music holds up very well.

Yep, while I always loved the band it's only been the last few years where I really began to appreciate the complexity and musicality of the band. Robert DeLeo did a great interview with Rick Beato. He's probably one of the most underrated musicians of the last 30-40 years IMO.

Which reminds to watch that entire interview as I've only seen clips from it. Rick Beato is the man, and I'm glad he gave Robert the spotlight he deserves. Tiny Music and No. 4 are great albums as well and have some of my favorite STP songs.

I'm not hyped about seeing essentially an STP tribute band without Scott but would like to see Live again. Throwing Cooper is a classic album and should be highlighted, but I may like Secret Samadhi even more at this point.

I have mixed feelings about the current singer for STP. It annoys me that he's basically a Weiland imitator but his voice sounds good and the band still sounds amazing. I've seen them a few times with this guy. I prefer the AIC approach where the singer is his own man and not a tribute band kinda guy.
