Seeing the high Priest... Judas Priest in Irving on Oct. 26th.

Last time I saw them was at Dallas's Starplex maybe 15 years ago... they headlined the Heaven & Hell "festival" that incl. Testament, Motorhead, Dio's Heaven & Hell.

\m/

I was at that show. Between sets I was in the Ice House enjoying some a/c while Vinnie Paul, Dimebag, and several of their crew were taking shots at the next table. That was a great ****ing day.

Had no idea that Treaty Oak Revival was swinging through CS and playing Wolf Pen. Not a great venue but hard to pass up a good band performing locally. Picked up tickets last night.

Coldplay announcing about the lousiest North America itinerary I've seen in a while.

MAY
31: Stanford, CA - Stanford Stadium

JUNE
6: Las Vegas, NV - Allegiant Stadium
10: Denver, CO - Empower Field at Mile High
13: El Paso, TX - Sun Bowl Stadium

JULY
7: Toronto, ON - Rogers Stadium
8: Toronto, ON - Rogers Stadium
15: Foxborough, MA - Gillette Stadium
19: Madison, WI - Camp Randall Stadium
22: Nashville, TN - Nissan Stadium
26: Miami, FL - Hard Rock Stadium

Alright mates, let's announce a north american tour... but let's do just 10 dates... with 2 of them in canada, and 1 in el paso yeah!

As soon as they sell out these shows more will probably be announced in the 4 week break they have open. Really hard to believe they would only do 1 show in CA & TX

They did Dallas and Houston in 2022. So of course the next logical city would have to be El Paso...

LOL! I saw it the second it was announced last week (shocker, I know), but still haven't been able to determine if that means in the round or what exactly they plan on doing. Tickets went on sale and ticket buyers on Billy threads I follow still don't even seem to know.

I've got the entire TX and NOLA six dates coming up in December so doubt I can do three nights in Denver but would certainly love to naturally.

But since we're on the subject, the new album is awesome and doing quite well..... ;-)

360 degree, in my mind, can only mean one of 2 things;
A stage in the center of the field, or an end stage with an open back and no unsold seats. Like Pearl Jam does.

Ticketmaster always shows the stage, should be easy to figure out.

Here's some of the comments I've read:

Quote:

Some of you are confusing a 360 degree stage view with a show being in the round, or in the center of the room.

The ~2022 Roger Waters tour was very clear about the show being "in the round", ie, in the center of the arena. Billy would've been just as clear if the stage was intended to be in the center of the arena.

Quote:

I don't know man, when they say something like "first ever 360 degree stage" it's hard to imagine they're really saying hey you can sit behind the stage now how cool is that? No one wants that, but, it looks like that's the case. I just wonder what the production will be because they can't have the screen backdrop he's been using in that case.

Quote:

^This. There is no confusion. They are billing it as the "first ever 360 shows." If it's just that you're allowed to sit behind the stage, well then that is bull**** I'm sorry.

Quote:

ya i dont get it. went with section 120

So I just went to ticketmaster, it shows the stage at the end of field, not center field. But all those seats that are normally 'behind' the stage are being sold, so the stage is 'open', there is no back to it.

I don't know why this is still confusing to anyone!

for reference.

this is PJ, and they usually turn around for a few songs and play to those 'behind' the stage. Otherwise, the rest of the show you're looking at their backs and all their gear.

Yeah I went to the four PJ Texas shows last year. Seems weird Billy would even advertise this like it's some sort of revolutionary thing. If anything it is a bad selling point for these shows imo as the new rig they created this year behind the band is phenomenal.

Hate to say it but it sounds more like an extra cash grab to me. Maybe he could use it after refunding everyone to the tune of 2.4 million dollars at least after he had to bail on Renewal even though the festival still went on without him.

Yes, its a cash grab. Many artists do it later in the process depending on demand. Blink 182 this year about a month before the tour decide to do "360 degree" which basically meant they could sell rear/side view but as long as one of the band members walked back to the other side for a few songs then it was OK.

While I don't necessarily disagree with it being cash grab a lot of the time those tickets are a lot cheaper than anything else in the arena. If the artist does it right they at least put a screen back there for the people behind the stage to watch.

Yeah "cash grab" is a bad way to put it. We had seats for Blink that otherwise I wouldn't have bought had they not done "360 degree" -- but with these setups you typically A) Have stage electronics/support back there so its not always a clear shot, and B) There is typically no PIT in the rear, so the band is going to give you some attention (a song or two), but for the most part they will be playing towards the crowd.

Saw the Experience Hendrix tour last night. It was a blast!

Here's some pics of a few of the performers:

Eric Johnson
Dweezil Zappa
Kingfish (I think he's a YouTuber that is taking off?)
Kenny Wayne Shepherd, who picks pretty hard and has rubbed the finish off his Strat

Kenny ended the show with Voodoo Child (Slight Return) and just killed it. Jimi and SRV both would have approved. Chris Layton was on drums and seemed to approve.

Good crowd. Good times.

What a blast the Red Clay Strays were last night!!! They said it was the biggest headlining show they've ever played.

Those guys are just so so good.

They had that entire place in the palm of their hand. At this rate I may never see them at a small venue again.

They are so good right now. Can't wait to see them today at ACL. Saw them Oregon over the summer and they crushed it.

The more I listen to his new album the more I love it.

Old guy post:

Saw .38 Special a couple of weeks ago. Only Don Barnes is left of the original but they did a great show. Chained Lightning was amazing!

Saw Foreigner last weekend. No originals left touring, but Kelly Hansen does a great job, and the rest of the band was tight.

We're on the See 'Em Before They Die tour of all the old bands. Except for Foreigner, all of them that we have seen have at least one original member. Def Leppard, who we've seen the most, is all original except for Steve Clark, the guitar player who died back in 1991 and was replaced by Vivian Campbell, who is still with them.

Some, like Tom Keifer of Cinderella, Eric Martin of Mr. Big, and Kip Winger, we've seen as solo acts but singing the band's song, and they are the main guys, so we're counting them, too.

All within the past 5 years:

Moody Blues
Chicago
EWF
Night Ranger
Blue Oyster Cult
Poison
Tesla
The Marshall Tucker Band
Three Dog Night (only one Dog left)
Kansas
Styx
America
Bon Jovi, both with and without Richie
Journey
Steelheart
Great White
Geoff Tate of Queensryche
Kix

More that I can't remember right now.

Not exactly true - the two original guitar players in Def Leppard, starting with the first album, were Steve Clark and Pete Willis. WIllis is on the first three albums, including Pyromania. Then he got fired for drinking and drugs, and was replaced by Phil Collen.

Clark died and was replaced by Vivian Campbell, who's ceratinly no slouch, but seems to take a back seat in Lep to Collen. Vivian played on some of Dio's biggest hits (Holy Diver and Rainbow in the Dark), and was in Whitesnake for a few minutes.

Elliott/Savage/Allen are the originals. Rick Allen's a cool dude too - we met him at one of his painting exhibitions, and ended up having dinner with him.

Good info. We've only been following them since '78. Jealous of your dinner with Rick. We've met him and have some of his art, and have had a couple of conversations with him over the years. Also, we once shared an elevator conversation with Phil and Viv and their spouses. And met and had a photo with all of them on the Def Leppard cruise in 2016.

And I swear I saw Joe and his wife in Sorrento, Italy, last fall but I didn't realize it till they'd walked past us and I wasn't brave enough to go after them.

ALL-INCLUSIVE GEN X CANCUN VACATION! The Sands.rocks

Also for the locals in Aggieland this should be a fun evening on Saturday night. I'm interested to see how good these tribute bands can cover some very challenging music.

The keyboard player in Mindcrime is our keyboard player in our Floyd band. Both of those bands are flat out awesome, and I don't say that lightly. Drew Brown is the lead singer for both bands, and absolutely kills it. Excellent singer with great stage presence. Y'all will enjoy if you're a fan!
