I have quite a few.

The wife and I went to San Antonio on the river walk for our 2nd anniversary. I saw a pamphlet for a ghost hunting tour of the Alamo so I suggested we do it. My wife is not into ghost stuff at all and (used) to think it was all fake.

So we are on the tour. The guide talks about the old buildings/haunted hotels/haunted brothels and then we get to the Alamo. He pulls out a thermal camera. It's 11:00 pm and so the Alamo is closed, no one inside, but there are some hallways which are gated that you can see through and he courtyard u guess (it's been a few years since I have been). The guide starts talking about some of the ghosts people see and the different manifestations and lets us take the thermal camera and scan the area. About 30 minutes later, sure enough down on do the hallways you can look down, a human figure appears, crossing the line of site of the camera.

The guide gets visibly excited. Visually there's nothing there but on the camera you can see a human form cross in front of us and stop in the middle of the hallway. The guide says that there is this one ghost that shows up over there, and all the hunters in his group call the human "shorty" and that he usually pops up when there are women around and that sometimes he responds to it she women flirt with him.

So the guide (who is large, balding, etc) asks my wife to flirt with shorty to see if he will stick around for a bit longer.

My wife is reluctant but I am getting a kick out of how much the guide is tripping. So I encourage her as well. After a minute or two my wife starts falling out "Hey shorty! Mmmm what's a big strong man like you doing over there. I want you to come over here and keep me warm!" Generally stuff like that.

At first nothing happens or appears to happen anyway. And then the damn thing starts moving. It starts coming down the hallway towards us. I am he one with he camera, and my wife can't see the screen. She just has her hands cupped around her mouth calling out. I am stunned because the figure starts to move faster and faster....never quite breaking into a run, but what looks like a fast walk. After a minute or two she gets tired of calling out and asks me if the thing is gone. I show her the screen and it's like the figure is right in front of it, standing there with its hands on its hips, head tilted to one side. It takes its hands out of its pockets and reaches forward to touch her face or head or something. She screams "Oh *****" And runs away. I give the guy the camera back and go to make sure the wife doesn't run into the street or something. I couldn't even get her to finish the tour.

I have got a lot more where that one came from. A lot of crazy experiences. But that one is the tamest I think.

That wasn't the ghost's hand that touched your wife's Face.

Damn, my story's kind of lame after all the spiritu'l warfare and such. It's kind of lame anyway!

House I lived in while I was in high school was a Catholic rectory. That's almost irrelevant! My parents yanked it off its foundations in San Antonio and moved it further south. No character to it. It was a dull house.

The haunting part is mostly just years and years of seeing something pass a doorway out of the corner of your eye. I thought it was just me, and just one of those dumb things your mind does, until I compared notes with my brother and dad. Then it turned out that dad had been keeping a lid on things for a while. Turns out we all saw that stuff, sometimes even at the same time. That sound I thought was somebody pacing up and down the hallway at night? Why, that was the sound of something pacing up and down the hallway at night.

The big thing that he kept a lid on was that something in there got annoyed at him quite a bit and would sometimes just scratch the F out of his back. No pattern to it, just happened sometimes. Remember, this wasn't "somebody's house" before we got it--just a boring house that priests lived in, in another city. So none of that "didn't like him changing the house" stuff. Something in there just didn't like him.

They moved a few years ago so it's somebody else's problem. This experience taught me to always ask a realtor if a house is haunted.

I was too young to remember much, but my parents honestly believe our house was haunted. The way the story goes is that they both started having similar dreams once the house was built, very specific though...they would each be on our porch and "figures" would be walking down the road in front of the property. By the time the figures made it to the house, it would be a man and woman dressed in clothes from like the 1800s or early 1900s. The man and woman would consistently go to one side of our house and just point down at the same spot in the ground.

After having the dreams a few times, other things started happening. My mother said she saw the shape of a man in the hallway. Things got really weird one day when my dad, who worked nights and would be the only person at the house during weekdays, was sleeping on the couch before work. He tends to sleep with his hands together, also above and over his head. He supposedly felt someone grab his hands, pull down hard, and refuse to let go for several seconds. He actually ran out of the house and to my aunt's house who lived about 1.5 miles away. She would always say, my dad was shaken and borderline in tears.

After that last incident, my parents had the house blessed by two priests. They said that they went a few years without an incident. Something else did eventually happen, which I cannot remember. Our priest that had blessed the house before actually insisted they visit a "psychic." The psychic believed the male in the dreams had buried something valuable on the property but told my parents it would be best to not search for it. The psychic gave them a small memento to keep in the house, after my parents kept that small memento, there hasn't been any issues in almost 25 years. Odd and crazy tale from my perspective.

Sorry. I was facing away from the door. A shadow fell from the hallway, but only slightly, b/c there was a ceiling light in the room itself. I heard him walk up to the doorway. I then turned around, thinking it was my father or mother or a sibling, but certain it was my father. When I turned, I saw a shadow (with light from the living room behind it) in the shape of my brother for a moment. Then, a calm hit me, and I turned back around. The shadow left, as did the sound. At that moment I heard my father sobbing in another room with my mother (they had been in there for about an hour).

Terrible day.

Baby sat for a couple of boys a few houses down one time. At one point they showed me their room and I noticed the master bedroom door was wide open... I decided it was respectful to close it because the Mrs had her garments laying out.

After I read them a story and put them to bed I noticed the master door was open again so I closed it. After around 30 min I went to check on them. Master bedroom door open again and the sleeping boys hadn't moved an inch. They were exactly like I tucked them in. I closed the door and pushed on it to see if maybe the latch wasn't working. It was.

I didn't think much about it really until I went to check on them again later in the night and that freaking door was open. At this point I'm like, yeah this is really weird. I then remembered the guy next door died while working on his car in the driveway after it fell on him. That driveway was just on the other side of the wall where I was standing.

I didn't close the door that time because I knew if I did and found it open again I would have freaked the hell out.

In two different houses I've lived in, I've heard steps going down the hall or someone typing on the computer when home alone or everyone else was fast asleep. One house was built in the 20s and the original owner died in his bed(which was my room). There were many nights where I could hear someone walking down the hallway to my room and I was the only one in the house, lived alone there. There were also times when you could hear steps and stuff moving around upstairs, also when no one else was home. When friends were there, every now and then they would ask who was walking around all night long, and of course it wasn't anyone. Also the usual things, lights turning on, doors opening, stuff not being where I left them. Lots of sleep lost in that house.

The other house was a new build, on a lot where nothing had been before. This is where I'd hear the typing on the computer. My bedroom had a door to the office which opened up to the living room. I'd wake up at night hearing the typing and go in there thinking my parents were awake working on the computer, but no one would be there and the computer wasn't even on.

Finally finished. LOVED this thread... some great stories here.

Here's what even harder to explain than some of these "stories" - especially in the 30-35 page range. Why are so many people being complete poons? If you don't like these ghost stories nobody's making you read the thread. Just find it humorous some people seemed to be getting legit angry people were having fun in this thread.

Sad.

Anyway keep em coming!

We built our home in Humble 9 years ago and I've had about 4-5 things happen to me in the house. Some of the times my husband has been home but he says he never experiences anything. I'm ready to move.

Brief summary:

1) hearing someone shout right next to my ear
2) Decorations being moved less than 30 seconds after I placed them
3) The sounds of papers falling and books falling in the room I'm in - but nothing dropped when the lights were turned on
4) Chimes of the door opening but no one entered the house

I feel like I'm forgetting something....ah well.

Not going to touch the creepy stuff that went down at the house my parents lived in when I was a kid.

Buuuuut when I moved to OK with the wife and kids. We lived in a house originally build in the 1930's. It was added onto around 2000. The addition, which was put on what was originally the lot next door had always creeped the wife and myself out. Things like seeing movement or figures out of the corner of the eye, that feeling that someone is watching you always stuck around whenever one of us was down there by ourselves. We talked about it in passing but never became too concerned about it, until one night when I had a dream that I will never forget.

I dreamed that I was at one end of the hallway and could see a little girl about midway down the hallway, about 4 years old or so. She was wimpering not really crying, but how kids get when they are about to cry. In my dream I was alone in the house, except for the little girl, so I went to her to try to console her. When I asked the girl what was wrong, she pointed to the opposite end of the hallway, and out of one of the rooms, I could see a shadowy figure....not quite animal, not quite human emerge. The shadow figure started down the hallway in my direction, and I put myself in front of the little girl, to keep my body between her and the shadow figure. The shadow figure moved faster and faster and then jumped as if to jump through me to get to the little girl. I felt the impact, like a punch to the gut and woke up immediately, gasping for air, sweating, heart racing, cold, feverish, nauseous, and having trouble catching my breath. My wife woke up and asked me what was wrong. I told her I had had a bad dream and rolled over and tried to go back to sleep but couldn't for the rest of the night. She woke up a short time later, with the same symptoms, difficulty breathing, heart palpitations. I asked her what was wrong and she described her dream to me.

It was the exact same dream that I had had, even though I hadn't shared the specifics of my dream. I had only told her that it was a bad dream. Our two kids sleep just off of that hallway in two rooms, across from where the shadowy figure had emerged. We got the kids and brought them in our room to sleep with us that night. We had a priest come bless our house before we let the kids sleep in their rooms again.

A short time later we moved.

I think I was in jr high when we lived in a house a few years in west Houston that had weird stuff going on. My mom would sometimes hear footsteps upstairs when no one else was up or home. I had a friend stay over once and we both heard what sounded like loud exhales in my room. My brother had something tap his forehead when he was falling asleep once.

Been living in our 2 story house for nearly 20 years. I've never heard or felt or suspected any unusual activity until about a month ago.

Late one night, I was lying in bed catching up on the day's emails. My wife was asleep beside me. Everyone else else in the house was asleep as well.

Then, out of the blue, my laptop lost internet connectivity. WiFi was still up/good. But, my ISP-provided cable modem could not get back online. I rebooted it several times. No dice. I bought my own cable modem from Amazon and haven't had a problem since. Weird. Still freaks me out.
