Softball in the 1980's, the Bob Brock era. Three national championships and two runner-ups. These teams along with the early Pat Henry era track and field teams were fairly dominant in their sport. Henry did not take long after he showed up on campus to put together great teams. It was definitely LSU's loss and our gain when he came onboard !!

The dominance over the last 4-5 years would put in the top 3 of the all sports in Texas A&M history.

What an amazing coup for Texas A&M!! Our own Mary Stoiana won the UTF Hurd award last week. Along with being ranked #1 in ITA rankings and winning a HONDA award last year, Mary continues to play her heart out with her other tennis team members for Texas A&M!! As she prepares to shoot up the pro ladder, we are so excited to support an Aggie in the pro circuit.

The really 'awesomeness' took off in 2022. This year is really good, too. Next year lose Mary but will add Jennifer and the new Russian girl. If just Jennifer works out really well our lineup will stay very competitive. If the Russian girl does, too, look out !! I think the roster limit will allow another player. Who knows, perhaps Mark will find some really awesome experienced girl from another school wanting to transfer. Or he will hold on to it as a 'just in case'.

Next year lose Liz, Avery, Nicole, Mia and Daria. Will be hard to replace them but ...

... one of the great things about the team is that Mark is an Aggie and has spent his career here. Prospective recruits and transfers like consistency at the top. Match that consistency with his great personality and our success and we have a huge magnet that attracts talent. Can we continue to attract top talent? That's always the big question. I think so.

Track was a big miss on my part. I knew we had had some success in softball, but didn't realize to that extent.

If we continue at our clip, we definitely have a case for the second best run in school history. A three-peat is hard to beat..maybe it will get us an indoor...

Has been a lot of fun !! Watching the team step up when Mary was not playing was awesome. A lot of fantasic comebacks. And the play of freshman Lex has given us a glimpse of the future.

I don't understand why there is so little coverage for the tennis team when we have been dominating over the last couple of years. We may actually even turn out a pro player! That's exciting for A&M!!

I am so fired up that Mary is turning pro!! We will get an Aggie to really make a splash on the circuit! She was so poised winning the Honda award and we can hardly wait to see this tough champ in the pro's.

I agree with both. On the transition, it helps that there are three girls from other countries on the team already. They can all laugh about the weird customs Americans have !! But tennis, with small rosters, makes it more difficult. However, having Jennifer as a fellow freshman, one from Texas, will help as will Lex, a sophomore, from Florida.

A big plus is Mark. He is so easy going. He has talked about his girls from other countries and how they can have a difficult time sometimes but the whole tennis program is a big family and they all help each other.

Time will tell.

Katya Townsend '22 has played her way through the qualifiers and made it to the main draw at W15 Monastir this week. Salma Ewing '27 already won her first round in the main draw.

Rutuja Bhosale '17 is off this week but is still ranked #313.

Carson Branstine '24 should be back in action next week in W50 Santo Domingo (DOM).

Anna Perelman '29 may play in W15 Antalya (TUR) next week, but she's pretty far down the list.
