Aggie lose 5 of 6 singles matches. This one looked very straightforward for us early in singles and then Mary lost the last 4 games of her 1st set.
It is just one match for our team and perfection is not the goal or even attainable. On to the next one.

Darn, here I was thinking we would lose no more than two matches. Well, live and learn. AND, back home next match - finally !!!
Also of note, all 6 singles matches went 3 sets.
That was brutal. We are better at every single position and lost 5 of 6.
But what matters is how we respond. All goals ahead of us. SEC regular season (likely split best case), SEC tourney and NCAAs.

One match does not make a season. We are still 15-2, 6-1, very good at this point in the season. With the team we have it is easy to expect perfection every match during a season but not going to happen.
As mentioned above, what matters is what happens afterwards. How do we respond? Note that this was the 4th of 4 road trips but now back home for two. Our girls will come out swingin' and show 'em who's boss !!

It was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. After coming out strong in doubles, and seemingly taking control of singles, the rain and the move to the indoor courts became our biggest nightmare. Just really baffling singles results. Nicole has been playing with fire for weeks, and her luck finally ran out. Our UTR at every single line was significantly higher (which is why it doesn't always matter in college tennis). We had match points in 3 of the matches we lost and couldn't find a way to win them. Mary served for the first set at 5-3 and then lost 4 games in a row. Vanderbilt played the bigger points better and truly deserved that win. To lose 5 of 6 singles matches, though, is really eye opening. Congratulations to Lulu for being the only singles win. Even that match was closer than it should have been. She served for the match at 5-3 in the second.
Have to put it behind us and hope to rally to finish the season. Sometimes an eye-opening loss is exactly what you need to get back to work and fix the small things that were being overlooked. Many times, we play matches that are won in the head before we even step on the court. Props to Vandy's coaches for having the team ready; looking forward to the next match up with them.
