Not sure how long, but first saw articles about rebuilding it last April. https://today.tamu.edu/2024/04/11/fund-started-for-campus-ski-slope-out-of-commission-due-to-storm-damage/

well if you remember, the scholarship limit changes next year. A school can fund up to 10 scholarships for tennis, but the team size is also is capped at 10. Maybe Mark with his success will be funded more than the 8 scholarships that we have now

Matinee preview: Carson vs Crawley

Main Attraction: Home opener of another SEC (regular season) Championship

Dessert: We should be wrapped up in time to see Auburn @ Georgia finish.

Thanks for the link! So, has not been too long. IF the rebuild has not been started it would be easy to simply find a different site and build it there. Leave the current land available for indoor courts. I have not been there in a long time but overhead shots on the Internet show lots of room available, more than enough, and a LOT of room if take out two of the Penberthy fields or the RV lot. Actually better to take out two of the Penberthy fields, would leave a LOT of room.

However, have to have the will to do so by the AD. Even if only to start by moving rebuild of Mt. Aggie and leaving the land for the future when he or a new one finally gets around to approving an indoor court. A wonder if Mark has considered this? I do not know his phone number to ask him!

They don't even have to move Mt Aggie. There is plenty of space for 6 indoor tennis courts plus seating even without moving the mountain. Just move Penberthy lot right to the edge of the access road and you have all the space you need.

Lack of space is not our issue for building indoor tennis courts.

The space north of Mitchell was purposefully left empty for indoors when the PE building came in. The athletic dept just simply won't give the funds. But yay for colored LED lights at Kyle Field!!

I know no interest from the athletic department. I mentioned months ago that it will take the tennis-playing wives of some big time supporters for the major sports to convince their hubbies to donate money to tennis to even get the school interested. Or at least wives who simply want to support women's sports.

As for land, I am thinking of 12 indoor courts instead of only 6. The latter great for practice and matches against a single team but need more to attract tournaments. Thought process is if going to do it might as well do it right.

I am certainly not holding my breath for any of this to happen in the near future because it will almost definitely not happen. Reality often does suck.

I would love for 12. The indoor NCAA's are held at two locations hours apart. Did each of those locations have 12 courts? Id love to have TAMU host an NCAA Indoor Championship all at one site.

We have hosted NCAA nationals (before the new format of course) 3 times. 02, 05, 09.

It is now required to have indoors to host spring nationals. That's out the window til we get them.
