Thought the end of the show was a bit interesting as they hinted at other story lines. However, overall it seemed like another episode with a random "villain" that we probably won't hear from again.

Looked like a dead woman to me. I presume her mother.

I have 2 guesses which are the obvious things:

1) Her mother was a Shield operative who died on a mission with no extraction plan.

2) Her mother was a villain who gave her up and was then killed by Shield.

Or, since she's obviously part Asian and part white, and The Cavalry is Asian and Coulson is white and there seems to be hints of old chemistry there....


....she's the love-child of those two, and the picture was of a villain that they both whacked trying to take her away as leverage.

I mean, seriously, that plays into why a "company man" like Coulson has been so adamant to give her chance after chance to prove herself. And why The Cav hasn't simply whooped her butt into shape.

I feel like this show really needs to be more "Chuck" and less "CSI". They are trying to be too serious about things, and they really just need to embrace the content and nerd-out a little. They also need a more endearing main character than Skye. She's hot, and cute and all that. But she doesn't have enough charisma to carry the other flat-actors on this show.

I can't put my finger on why,but Skye and Simmons annoyed me throughout the episode.

I second SuperAg with the idea of more Chuck than CSI/NCIS/SVU.

though we won't see the focus shift from Skye for a while. This was Joss Whedon'w baby and Joss likes female protagonists.

So this tie-in is just Asgardian relics, nothing to do with Thor2.

Its just something Marvel, why the hell are they calling this a tie-in?

Well they did use 3 seconds of Thor 2 footage (from the trailer) so I guess that counts.

I liked the episode regardless of its tie-in status.

I really liked this episode. The use of Norse Mythology to tie in an episode. I did not see that twist coming with that guest character. I really hope he comes back.

Did Ward shack up with Calvary at the end? I walked away for a second and came back to that last scene. Don't know if I missed some context.

I've liked the series from the beginning despite its rough spots, but I have to agree that the last 3 or so episodes have really been a step above the rest. I know its an unrealistic hope, but I just kept wishing they would have Thor drop in for a brief cameo. It could have been so good. I dont feel like the show is missing out because Iron Man doesnt show up in every episode or anything, but a situation like this where you could draw such a direct link to the cinematic universe it would be so appropriate. Oh well. Good episode!

Well, she walked into her room with a bottle of wine and he followed her in, so I'm guessing so. While she is pretty good looking, I think I would've chosen Sky over her since it looked like Sky was wanting him also.

I think they left it intentionally vague, but I feel pretty certain they are going to use it to drum up some on-ship controversy with Skye, which I'm not thrilled about.

Agree, that was a little weak. Good episode though.

I'm not sure what the guy's end game would have been anyway but the effects were cool and I still like where the show is going.

I still watch the show, but I'd argue that if it wasn't related to Marvel and was just some regular concept show then it would most likely be on Scyfy channel and would probably be roasted by most, and canceled after one season.

It's mediocre at best, and I don't say that happily because I really wanted this show to be good. It might have Joss Whedon's name on it but it's just not up to his standards (obviously because he's not actually writing the episodes). I see moments of potential, but really its just clichéd, clunky writing.

What I would like to see is the station not kill it after one season even if ratings are not great. Use the off-season to refine the show for season 2 and keep rolling.

I would love for networks to give more time for development to shows that have potential. Let them develop and let the audience grow. Some of the greatest shows in the past were far from great when they began. Unfortunately, they cancel shows like Firefly and replace them with shows like that utter crap animal doctor "comedy" with the monkey from The Hangover movies. And now good dramas or comedies have to contend with every bearded redneck/amateur porn ****/white trash pawn shop dealer who signs on to do a scripted "reality" show.

But I digress, Shield still has potential, but the writing needs to change.

I doubt they cancel it. Read the other day it is the number two in that time slot behind the voice. But it has a huge draw for the 18-35 (or whatever ages) men.

I don't like that story line. The berserker episode was good...my favorite so far.

I thought it was interesting. I like the "something we think we know(ghosts)that turns out to be something different" story.

Y'all think that Mike guy is really dead? This is a show based in the comic book world, after all.
