Check out http://awesomepowertexas.com. Much more effective than Power To Choose IMHO.

If not affiliated with them in any way, just a fan.

This is what I use. Incredibly helpful

I think I'm going to cancel my Energy Ogre subscription as well. They've put me on 12 month contracts 2-3 times in a row now right in the middle of the summer.

Same here. They have been great for me as I have moved 3 times in under 2 years and they made it seamless. But if they sign me up for 12 month contracts, I'm not sure I couldn't do that myself or try out one of the competitors

Same here. Tried to call earlier and they were closed. I will call tomorrow.

The trick is understanding your usage and being able to identify a plan that fits it. That is where Energy Ogre is going to help you find the plan that best matches your needs. Sometimes, that is 3 months and sometimes that is a year. We have been with them for over 3 years and had both. I would highly recommend signing up and giving it a chance. www.energyogre.com/r/cru

No, I do not work for Energy Ogre. You are probably thinking of 2nd Generation Ag. I think he does and there is another Aggie who posts not as much that does also.

I signed up with them back in late May. I had 5 different plans that I approved to 'sign' me up for but none ever actually was put into place. I would check in fairly regularly and the next day, it would send me an update of a new plan that they had found. There was never any communication from them about what was going on and when I called, I was simply told some plans are not available when you sign up. I wanted to argue that, I could understand once, maybe twice, but 5 times in 2 weeks but I decided just to let it be.

Took me 15 minutes to do it myself and I signed up and switched after the 5th failure to get me into a new contract by EnergyOrgre. Cancelled that day and hated I wasted $10 on it.

Not saying this was the case, but I do know they have had several people out with Covid complications in the last few months and this has affected their service level. If you look at their customer service ratings overall, they are really good. That said, things do happen.

Been with them for 5 years and couldn't be happier! Tried other options in the past and it was always a pain in the ass and when I saw how much Energy Ogre saved me, accepted them and have been a happy customer ever since. Seen others in the area trying to go their own with powertochoose.org, etc and EO beat them by a decent and sometimes significant margin. Now if the damn line fees charged by ONCOR were reduced, I'd be alot happier as their costs at times exceed the electric supplier's costs. WTF!!!

Oh absolutely. I think the entire situation was certainly complicated because of the Covid situation and realize that some of the hiccups were caused by that. I was just disappointed in the lack of communication from the company and the inability of their support staff to assist me when trying to resolve the situation.

We were in a bad plan (moved from a smaller rent house to our larger new home) for the size of our house and absolutely needed to make the switch. After the issue continuing with resolution after 2 weeks, I just decided to move on.

The premise of the company is great and really can save you hundreds of dollars over the course of a year. It just didn't work out for us, unfortunately.

Here's an anecdotal data point for you guys,

This months July electrical bill with whoever EO signed me up with, is $130. 40 year old house, 2000 square ft. Add the $10 that I'm paying EO, and my cost is $140.

My bills before I signed up for EO 4 years ago, in a 40 year old 1400 square ft house, were in the 300-350 range in the summer.

Remains worth it to me, even if I'm signed up for 12 month plans.

Data between 2 different houses seems largely irrelevant without more data on efficiency upgrades, etc. Personally, i have been in the same house for 5 years and my electric bill has gone up 3 Julys in a row with EO, including 2 brand new high efficiency hvacs 2 years ago.
