They have me on a Gexa plan currently. We don't use much electricity in general right now (about 500kwh last bill) but with the plan I'm on they give a $25 credit if you stay under 999kwh. That's why my bill is only $20.

Has anyone been with Energy Ogre long enough that the initial contract ended? Do they keep you month to month with the original provider? Or do they switch between providers to get the best deal? My concern is if they continue to switch between providers that each new provider will run my credit.
I haven't signed up for a new electricity provider for at least 5 years (been with Startex the whole time), and I couldn't remember if they ran my credit when I started or not.
Energy Ogre requires your SSN when signing up with them, and with the amount of money that I would be saving I don't think its worth the hit to my credit if its getting run every 6 months. Does anyone know what the hit to my credit score would be if someone ran my credit every 6 months for electricity?
MrJonMan, who are you with that you have a $52 bill using 1400KW?

I have been with Energy Ogre for about 7 months. This was my first month on my new contract. Used 1648 kwh and my bill was $68.98.

On the fence w this. I feel like I do a good job w power to choose and switch each year as necessary. Those of you who are saving money w this, did you shop yourself previously and does energy ogre do substantially better?

First Gexa Bill: 1276 KWH @ $44.01....effective rate of $0.034/KWH
Had I stuck with my old plan same KWH would have cost me $122.58 so taking out the EO $10 charge I saved $68.57 this month alone.
Granted, I hit the $40 credit for usage between 1,000 - 2,000 KWH, wont be able to hit that in summer but it's nice to get it other months.

They claim they can find the absolute best plan for everyone to save the most money possible and they back it up by a satisfaction guarantee. I would at least call them and start the process. If you don't like the plan they find you ask for a refund. Now the question becomes is the cost of the service worth it. It will take you a long time to save enough to pay for itself so it may not be worth much. Some posters on here have reported getting pretty sizable credits for staying under 500kwh. I would at least call them and let them work the numbers for you.
