If you just signed up you might be able to back out. A lot of contracts have a clause that you can get out within so many days. Look at your stuff and contact energy ogre. If you're paying that much you are getting screwed big time. Would be much cheaper to back out now and go with a different company. You could probably tell them you suddenly have to move out of state for work and they will waive the ETF. Insert aggie honor code here...

For some reason I was convinced it was a good deal... I didn't "just" sign the contract, but it is still new enough where I haven't gotten my first bill at the new rate yet. I contacted Bounce and my ETF is only $135, so still wise to go with Energy Ogre. Using their calculations I can save over $700 through them this year.

Sounds like my "deal" with reliant. Get ogre to switch over ASAP, cancel your auto pay and maybe they won't charge your ETF. Even if they do it is well worth it.

Just signed up with Energy Ogre. Thought I had a good plan with Bounce for 6.5 cents per kWh and was in a three year contract. Turns out that was just their fee and didn't include Centerpoint's. I also looked at my bill and they were killing me with hidden fees. Was actually paying 11.5 cents per kWh.

Looks like Energy Ogre can cut my bill in half even including their fee. I'll make money in my first year even paying the Bounce ETF. Will post results back after my first month of being switched.

I've been talking with Chris through email & have been very impressed with him. He has given me extremely long, detailed responses & hasnt pressured me one bit to sign up. I am moving into a new house & he straight up told me the best plan to sign up for (on my own). For that I am just going to sign up & give them my business. It'll be one less thing to worry about & I know the fee will easily be covered in the money being saved. I also have already gotten at least 2 others to sign up as well.

I hope after a few months of being a customer I feel the same as I do now.

Alright, I'm gonna have to make the switch. Chris just emailed me and showed where I could do 4.1 all in on a 6 month plan. He said most customers are paying 6.5 or below for the last 31 months.

Signed up earlier this month - around a 4.1 rate for 6 months. Was not under contract with my old provider so didn't get hit with any ETF.

I'm jealous about all these $.04 rates. I switched when energy wasn't quite as cheap I guess. Still saving a bunch of money.

I still want to see a $.04/kwh hour bill.

We just got a partial bill for our new house. Most of the time was spent waiting on blinds (so sun just blasting into the house in every room) along with lots of other factors that have our usage higher than will be typical at 3,119 kWh and our bill was $146.66, which is right at about $0.045 per kWh.

More importantly, they handled our move with absolute ease.

My previous plan expired at the end of June. We moved from our old house to new house mid July, so I had them:

1. Set up my old house and terminate service with the previous provider
2. on 7/15, start service at new house
3. on 7/19, end service at old house

No hiccups or problems at all - I half expected to find out that my old house was still being billed or something, but it went very smoothly. And I set all of this up at the end of June, meaning I didn't have to call them every step of the way.

I've been more than impressed. Definitely worth the $10/month to not have to worry about it.

To give a bit more detail to the above post, that is a $0.011/kWh energy charge with a $107.21 delivery charge for Oncor.

So my actual "energy" cost was $34.31.

Hey guys I am Class of 86 and Ditector of Business Development for Energy Ogre. We are growing fast and it's an exciting time. If you ever need any help you can email me at mengland @energyogre.com. A lot of the media outlets are running stories on our company. Channel 4 news in Dallas is going to run a story on us on September 2 on how we are helping the consumer. Just remember 90% of the consumers in Texas overpay for electricity. We save on average 40-60% for homeowners. Our technology will always find the lowest possible rate for your home.

Amy Davis from Channel 2 in Houston just did a special on Energy Ogre and how we are helping the consumer. It is on our website. One of the reasons we are doing this is to help people. I can't tell how good it makes us feel when we save people money. Now days every penny counts.

Just a thought, but have y'all considered doing a referral bonus? For example, $10 to each party both referring/being referred. This would basically allow new folks to try it for one month for "free" and stay on if they see the benefit.

Agreed on the referral . I signed up about a month ago, but after a little research with customer support we're going to hold off until my contract is up in Sep/Oct and revisit. Looking forward to saving some money.

My typical August electric bill in year's past is $550-$600 range. I switched to Energy Ogre about 2 months ago. My bill for August this year is $178. I am very please, really amazed at how much cheaper it is.
G. hirsutum Ag
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Racked up another $19 net savings this month. Last August my average bill was $226 but my actual bill was closer to $400. My actual bill with the plan EO signed me up for is $197.85. I'm up to $185 net savings in 4 months. My real savings will start once we get into fall and winter since I was paying way more than what I used on average billing. It's kind of weird looking forward to my energy bill coming to see how much I saved instead of being annoyed by how much I was getting ripped off by.

Curious about this... I have convinced a few people to sign up. How much can one earn per referral?

Their site doesn't really say, but is this basically just a Texas thing or does it also work elsewhere?

How long did it take them to get you all set up? I'm curious because I haven't heard anything from them after I signed up except them asking for an old bill.

Depends on when your old contract expires and when you told the you want your new start date to begin.

Contract expired already and I wanted new service today. That may be too soon of a request but I was hoping to hear something.

Signed up the 24th and provided the old bills. Heard from them shortly after with a good deal from Gexa, then was informed a few days later that it was no longer available so they would re-run the numbers. It has been crickets since the 28th. Customer service up until that point had been very good but I am starting wondering what's going on over there.

When did you sign up? You should send an email to Chris, the VP. He is good at getting back to you quickly. You can always call them too. Maybe the holiday weekend slowed them up a bit?

I signed up August 24th as mentioned above. Even with the long weekend I still didn't hear anything all last week. I emailed Chris earlier today and hopefully get a prompt response.

So if my contract doesn't end until November and I sign up today, am I going to get hit with a $10 monthly fee from Energy Ogre for those two months that I'm still with my old provider?
