Westbrook will never fit that mold. He has improved his style every year in the league, and had great assist numbers this season. It's been great to watch him grow from his rookie season up here. The challenge is building a team around his talents, not confining him to a style that negates his ability.
I'm not saying they need to change the way he plays the game or even his position. He just needs to take less stupid shots.
He can still drive a bunch, push it in transition, etc., but when that doesn't work he needs to put it into the post and help OKC develop a half court game. It's as much Westbrook's fault as it is his coaches that have never seemed to care about it.
Look, Westbrook's a great player, but he could be even better with proper coaching and a gameplan.
