Man I'm still not over it. 22 ****ing years.
I started kinda following Arsenal in the mid 90s because of Dennis Bergkamp. I was a little bitty kid during the 94 World Cup and I happened to see a couple of Netherlands matches (my parents weren't big on sports other than Aggie Football) on TV. We grew up on a small farm so following professional soccer leagues was about as hard as it could be in 90s. Most of the info I got came from friends/teammates on city teams I played on, but was never really able to truly follow along. It became a little easier as I got into middle school and our school finally had a computer lab with internet access, but even then it was more just reading articles about matches and maybe getting the occasional highlight reel of Henry doing something ridiculous. We didn't have the Fox Soccer channel so watching it was very irregular. My HS teammates would sometimes get together on the weekend and watch matches at someones house that did have it. We did for the 06 CL Final and I got so much **** because I was the only Arsenal fan. Everyone else was in love with Ronaldinho at the time.
So all the titles and cups I experienced through reading news articles, with very little real connection to it.
When I finally got to college is when I started watching matches religiously. We had the TexAgs threads for a community. Of course that was after the silverware had basically dried up. Still caught tons of **** because Arsenal couldn't get anything over the line. Then we all went through the miserable banter years.
In 2019, I went through some dark **** that also happened to go in tandem with the god awful run at the end of Emery's tenure here and I really struggled with depression. Soccer had always been a source of joy in my life, but a final knee injury ended me being able to play recreationally and Arsenal were the worst we'd ever seen (or so we thought). There were some dark, dark thoughts (not really because Arsenal were bad) and moments that could have led to me never truly seeing a title. Thankfully my wife and family and friends helped pull me out of that pit. I will say that it did lead me to disconnecting a bit from the game and not watching as much to avoid some of the emotional whirlwind that sports bring to us as fans.
Watching Arteta come in and rebuild this club from the ground up with the young players and wholesome feeling they all bring has been such an incredible thing to see. I love all our players and the joy and belief and love they have for each other. But even then it sometimes felt like it was never gonna happen. City always felt inevitable. Endless money and one of the greatest managers (and the ability to get away with 115+). Even this year on multiple occasions I felt we had results that really were the nail in the coffin. The loss to United, the draw to Wolves, the back-to-back losses in April.
I have not stopped smiling since that final whistle went yesterday. Watching the chaos outside the stadium. All the media online coming it. I can't believe its finally ****ing happened. I can't wait to see them lift the trophy on Sunday. And maybe, just maybe, they can bring us even more in 10 days
CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!

With so much at stake, the tension between the Arsenal coaching staff & medical department has been one of the major subplots of their season. Multiple sources close to the situation suggest that at one stage, the disputes verged upon ‘civil war’.
