Mokbel says that MLS & Nwaneri may be on the chopping block this summer

I mean it makes sense, they can't get any time with the first team even when injuries pop up

Personally I would prefer they stay. My ideal scenario is that we prioritize academy and the majority of the roster is always academy grads. That said, I am onboard selling every grad that can't make the 1st team right away if we started selling like Real (sell cheap with a low buy back)

Unfortunately the way PSR is set, clubs are heavily incentivized to sell academy players because they are pure profit. They cost nothing to bring in. When this summer roles around, we will obviously try to move some players on. I think there are very few players that we have that are truly not for sale. Saka, Rice, Raya, Saliba. I think everyone else does have a price that the club would take for them, including MLS and Nwaneri. I don't think Sami means we are actively shopping them around, but more that we would listen for the right price.

Well, this team requires a reason to show any sense of urgency. At least it came early.

Handball! Penaly given! VG converts! Level at one!

Badly needed that goal!

Bit of luck but 1-1

VG is so good at penalties, but you can't help be nervous that he's due to miss one sooner or later

We never seem to handle the press well

We used to - that was our thing, breaking a high press and punishing the opposition. Then everyone switched to a low bock and we forgot how to handle the press.

I think Zubimendi has been a terrible Partey replacement and that has a lot to do with it.

Too much ball watching. Somone needs to do something to keep the ball off net! But nope!

Miserable match. Seems like forever ago since we've played our best football.

An Arteta-lead Arsenal squad spitting the bit....where have we seen this before?

Offense was putrid, yet again. And Arteta's defense has been wobbling the past month.

Really poor

This team is so poorly managed. Everyone knows how to stop his plan A, he has no plan B, he encourages defenders to take dumb risks while not taking any risks offensively, and he seems incapable of coaching players out of form back into form.

Arteta has bottled it. There is plenty of talent on the squad to beat Bournemouth at home - comfortably - but not this squad under Arteta. The recent trend matches trends of past seasons, where the squad is tired, tactics are exposed/defeated, the manager has no idea how to get out of this trend.

They look lost.

Afraid to think about what the tactics at the Etihad are going to be like

Yeah that will probably do it. The offense is so bad right now. No continuity because of constant injuries because of constant overuse. I don't understand how we've looked at the last 7-8 matches and simply kept running out the exact same thing over and over again.

White needs to be benched. Play any other fullback over there.

This team has lost its ability to react like they were in the first half of the year. Rice and Zubimendi turned the ball over so many times and just aren't handling the press. This team has to be more direct against these high press teams. Play long and let Gvokeres or Havertz win the ball.

And pray somehow that Chelsea shows the **** up tomorrow and gets something from that game

How Man City finishes up suddenly has become very relevant. You never know

I think I'd drop Zubimendi next week and play Rice as the long pivot. Play Havertz and Eze has the 2 8s

I like that.

We've absolutely made this too ****ing hard.

I don't know if this stat is true, but it can't be all that far off:

Now would we be 9 points ahead is we used Norgaard more in the PL? Maybe not. Certainly he's a different type of player. But the PL experience has to mean something, particularly when it looks like a big issue is that Zubimendi doesn't look like a fit for the PL style right now.

Norgaard's an example of the type of player Arteta has struggled to manage over the years. He isn't the prototype of the starting XI Arteta wants, so Arteta doesn't seem interested in using the attributes he does have. All this makes the talk of all the depth Arsenal had acquired seem somewhat pointless.

I've said it several times and I'll say it again: Arteta has no idea what he's doing from an attacking standpoint. So much talent and he insists on being stoke. He has no plan if they can't score off of set pieces.

See I don't necessarily believe all of that. Don't get me wrong, the offense and midfield play this year have been atrocious, especially the last few months. There was an article by ESPN during the international break that showed if you removed all set piece goals, then Arsenal were still in 1st place, albeit level on points with City. They were the 3rd team in Europe to eclipse 100 goals for the season behind PSG and Barce back then as well.

Yes, the tactics and especially in match adjustments have been incredibly poor, but just as bad has been player form. The midfield can't break a press to save their lives nor are they finding and tracking runners. The defense is handing out multiple goals every match. The offense has shown zero capability to finish when it matters.

When players have started to look good, like Havertz or Eze, they're immediately injured again and out. When they come back, they are starting from square 1 and it shows.

Don't get me wrong, Arteta should take a massive amount of the blame, but the players themselves should be held accountable as well. They are just as culpable
