Other Highlanders may disagree, but I've got to go with Larry Izzo. He was a two-way beast (Touchdown Club finalist), all-conference at Rice, and has carved out a nice NFL career (3 rings) playing for Jimmy Johnson and Bill Belichick.

Others would be Grant Irons, Jarrett Irons, Kevin Beirne, Chance Mock, Danny Amendola, and many other D-1 guys.

Abilene High School

If you're looking for the best players that played at the time we were in school, I would have to say Ahmad Brooks and Sneezy Beltran.

Brooks was an overall class act, he's the guy the Bumgardner caught the TD pass against in the Bonfire game, he was just a freshman at the time. Went on to play a couple seasons for the Buffalo Bills and now hosts the sips weekly athletic department show on Fox Sports.

Beltran was almost the polar opposite, he went to Texas too, he was a year ahead of Cedric Benson, got beat out by Benson, then got busted for pot and left the program. Wound up back in Abilene at ACU and never really did anything athletically.

Best player ever from Abilene High? Hard to say, there were plenty of good ones back in the day when Chuck Moser was the head coach.
