Raymond Rhodes: played football at Tulsa and in the NFL (was also NFL coach at Green Bay)

Probably either current HC Steve Pinnell or Girl's bball coach Buddy Hawkins.

There are a ton more who were stars in HS, but these guys have had great success at the college level or higher.

The most famous athlete from Lamar though without a doubt is Jeremy Wariner the Olympic 400 meters guy who has 3 gold medals and a silver in the last 2 Olympics.
JJ Joe was a big name QB that came out of Lamar in the early 90's and played for Baylor, I believe he still holds many records there.
Also in my class Matt Gurley was a RB who played for A&M as a Fullback in the mid/late 80's.
mchensel, don't forget Shawn Walters, #1 tailback for USC in the early '90's.

No, he went Lamar but we played in jr high. I went to a small private school for high school.

took us from 3-7 in 1996 to 15-2 in 1997. the team was playing for one of their star players killed in a car/train accident the previous spring. nobody gave them a shot when they got stuck in district 25-5A with teams like judson, church hill and macaurthur. ended up beating judson by their spread and as soon as the season was over they moved NB to the austin district with westlake. eventually alief hastings whooped our asses in the astrodome in the semis.
